Hi I'm Kate
I'm an Arizona girl. I'm a missionary in Pennsylvania. I love music, going for a run and watching movies. And I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am currently serving a mission in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all my life. In my spare time, I love to go hiking, running with my best friend, watch movies, and hang out by a fire! When I finish my mission, I will go back to school and study to become a pediatric speech pathologist!
Why I am a Mormon
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for one reason. I asked if it was true. I didn't receive an angel visitation or a burning in my chest, but a simple peace. I have asked several more times if this church was true and every time Heavenly Father reassures me that it is. I know that He hears and answers my prayers. I've had times in my life where I was completely isolated from anyone who knew me longer than 2 months. I couldn't reach out to my family and my friends; they were miles away. Being completely alone, I prayed to feel comfort. I begged to understand why I was feeling the way I was and for relief from this feeling of despair. After I closed my prayer in the name of my Savior, I felt peace. I didn't hear a voice or receive any special witness, but I didn't feel alone anymore. In a situation where I was by myself completely, my Savior became my best friend. I'm a Mormon because the knowledge that I have allows me to make it through one day at a time. It allows me to keep going, because the eternities are awaiting me, if I prove faithful. I'm a Mormon because without the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, I'd be lost; not knowing who I am or what I could become. I'm a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by just trying to be like my Savior. I act the way I think He would want me to act, especially as I wear His name close to mine on my missionary tag. I am still growing in this gospel and I still have questions but I never allow those questions to destroy the faith that I already have. I surround myself with people that uplift me, even if they aren't members of the Church. Many good and true things can be learned by listening to others' opinions. I try my best to uplift those around me because that is what the Savior would do if He was on the earth today. My friends have taught me that it is always better to look outwards when you are feeling alone. When I step outside myself, then I experience the most joy and happiness. I have learned that service is the best time to feel the Savior's love.
