Hi I'm Joseph Ward

I'm a musician, a brother, a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Vancouver, come from a large family with 2 wonderful parents who were both converts to the church. They set an amazing example for me and my siblings. There aren't many members of the church up this way, and growing up at the time I did you were kinda on your own when it came to people being your age and actively engaged in the church. I saw a lot of friends come and go but for those experiences I am grateful. Makes you learn how to stand on your own with your faith. When I was 12 I got involved in music and it engulfed my life. I had never felt so energized then when I was able to play and write and learn music. I played in different groups but recently feel blessed to be able to be in a band with 3 of my best friends who are members of the church. We play in a band called Behind Sapphire. We pray before shows, we read our scriptures together while we're on the road, and listen to Mormon Tabernacle Choir (not ALL the time) while driving across the country to play for those people who come out to support us. Everyone we meet knows we are mormons!

Why I am a Mormon

I am on a journey to come to know my Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ. If I found a different faith that could bring me closer to them I would be a part of that faith but there is no other place on earth for one to come to know God, my Father, the way that we can in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The truth revealed to us about His character from what happened in the grove of trees in 1820 cannot be found anywhere else. The doctrines taught about Eternal Families and husbands and wives being able to be sealed together by the power of the priesthood for time and all eternity, that cannot be found anywhere else. The things I have learned about Jesus Christ and His infinite Atonement from reading from The Book of Mormon, I cannot find anywhere else. From reading from it, pondering and praying I have come to know the man of sorrow, one who was acquainted with grief, my Saviour. I love Him with all my heart, He is my best friend and if I continue in faith one day I shall see Him as He is, one day it is my prayer that I will be like Him.

How I live my faith

I talk to people on the bus, in the street, in the line at the market, at shows, and by the end of our conversation they know I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love talking about it, and I love sharing the gospel. There is no greater joy that I have experienced then what I have felt as I am able to share these things that I know to be true. I don't feel that joy as often as I did when I served as a full time missionary, and probably won't feel anything as amazing as that until I am married to my eternal companion, but I am grateful for the chance that God has given us to participate in His work. This week there is a spring fair at the university of british columbia, where different people set up booths to raise awareness or sell merchandise and we have a coordinated with the Vancouver Mission and made a giant 8ft Book of Mormon, and have set up a booth to share this message with as many people who will stop and listen. Yesterday was the first day and we were able to give out 10 copies of The Book of Mormon, hopefully today we can get 10x that many! (2 days later) We were at the campus on tuesday and were blessed to give out 63 copies of the book of mormon, one of the recent converts in our area actually gave away about 40 of those. Then on wednesday we gave out 95! Everyone needs to read this book and most importantly pray to know if its true.
