Hi I'm Matt

I'm a husband, father, doctor, basketball fan, kayaker, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and a father of 4 children. I enjoy outdoor adventures, sports, seeing new places in the world, and spending time with my family. I just completed a 50 mile hike and canoeing trip with my oldest son. It was great! I am also a physician and enjoy helping others feel better in my career as an ophthalmologist.

Why I am a Mormon

The teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints answer my questions of who am I? Why am I here? What is the purpose of this life? How can I be a better husband and father? Is there anything after this life? Where do we go then and what will I do? These questions are answered by the gospel of Jesus Christ. When I live by His teachings I find greater comfort and happiness.

How I live my faith

The family is number one in my faith. We go to church together, eat dinner together, study scriptures and pray daily together, counsel together on family concerns, and have fun together. I also volunteer a few hours a week at my local congregation as a Bishop. As Bishop, I get to help organize and conduct worship services and activities in our congregation (called a ward) of about 400 people. We have 70 teenagers in our ward and I get to work with them on a regular basis as well.
