Hi I'm Luke Jarvis

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying Biology at Utah State University in preparation for medical school. I am also a member of the United States Army Reserve. I recently returned from serving a full-time mission in the West Indies where I had the opportunity to teach the gospel to people in Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and St. Lucia. I am a husband to a wonderful wife and we will be having our first child, a daughter, in a couple months. I love to go shooting and spend time with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for my entire life. Nevertheless I have chosen to remain a member of this church because I know that it is Christ's church on the earth. There came a time in my life when I could no longer rely on the testimony of my parents or of any other person and I had to make a decision for myself as to whether I would continue to live by the principles of the gospel or not. If they were true then I knew that I must dedicate my life to living by them but if they were not true then I was not obligated to do so. After carefully reading and praying about the Book of Mormon I received a witness by the power of the Holy Ghost that that book is the word of God and knowing this I have since done the best I can to live by the principles of the gospel. I receive so many blessings for following Christ that I could never count them and most of all I love the Lord. And that is why I continue to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Me and my wife are in a married student ward. So all of the members of our ward are married and attending school. In my ward me and my wife have been called to be Sunday school teachers and members of the ward choir. So once or twice a month we teach a lesson in Sunday school and we stay for about an hour after church each week to prepare to sing in sacrament meeting. I love the opportunity to really dig into the scriptures and gain new insights as we teach. I also am a home teacher which means that there are two couples in the ward that I am responsible to befriend and visit and support. I love and appreciate the opportunity to follow the Savior's example of service.
