Hi I'm Steve

I'm a husband and father. I'm a Dodgers fan. I love Duke basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 46 years old and a married father of 5 great kids. I'm a corporate attorney working for an S&P 500 company. I previously worked in Silicon Valley representing public and private tech companies and before that in New York City after getting my law degree and an MBA from Duke University. I enjoy skiing - both water and snow - and wakeboarding. Growing up I played basketball, baseball and soccer, and then tennis in which I lettered all through High School. I am an avid reader and enjoy many genres, though I read a lot of fantasy. I've been a huge Lord of the Rings fan since I first read those books in 4th grade. My favorite 3 fiction books are A Tale of Two Cities, The Count of Monte Cristo and Ivanhoe, each of which I've read multiple times. I'm a big fan of Duke basketball and BYU football. One of my favorite pastimes is motorcycle riding and I like to find new routes to explore.

Why I am a Mormon

I guess you could say I became a Mormon because I was born into an LDS family. However, I've stayed a Mormon because I've come to know by the power of the Holy Ghost that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's true church on earth. I've stayed a Mormon because I am committed to following God and Jesus Christ and he has commanded that we come unto Him and be baptized. I have had many spiritual experiences in my life that have repeatedly confirmed and strengthened my conviction that the LDS church is Christ's church, that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God just like Moses and Abraham, and that the Book of Mormon is true scripture. So, when the Holy Spirit speaks, I try to listen.

How I live my faith

I serve in my local congregation. Currently, I serve as an assistant scout master and teach a children's Sunday School class. Previously I have served as an adult leader of our youth group, as part of a group that supervises the activities of our local congregations and as president of a group of approximately 200 men typically ranging from the age of 18-50. Serving in my congregation is a very fulfilling part of my life. It helps me to feel like I am showing my love for God and others through service. It helps me to be a better person and to try to be a spiritually-minded person. I believe that service to our fellow man is key to living God's commandment to "love thy neighbor as thyself". We have an unpaid ministry in our Church, so we are all volunteers. But, we believe that we have made a sacred covenant with God when we are baptized to follow him, keep his commandments and serve. As Jesus "went about doing good", I try to do the same and this is one way I can try to do this.
