Hi I'm Darin

I am a father of 4 daughters and 2 sons, and I have a wonderful wife. I love to flyfish, raft, and hunt. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Oklahoma, Colorado, and Utah. I earned a Geology degree from Utah State University in Logan, Utah. I worked for 6 years as a geologist in the southeast USA and Utah, but currently own and operate a granite fabrication shop in Palisade, Colorado. My wife and I are the parents of 6 wonderful children. When I'm not busy with work, family, or church responsibilities, I enjoy fly fishing, tying flies, and deer and elk hunting in the fall.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon and a Christian, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In these troubled times, where evil forces have tremendous influence over mankind, I am thankful that there is a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and 12 apostles on the earth that can guide and direct us, and give us power over the evil influences. The teachings of the gospel help me lead my family through the troubles of these times. The covenants I have made in a holy temple helps me know what my purpose is in this life and gives me a reason and incentive to live a good life and make good choices. I am a Mormon because it provides the means for us to be a forever family.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being honest in my business dealing, and with my fellow man. I teach my children to do their best in all they do and to be a good example of a Christian to others. I serve in a leadership capacity in my ward, that allows me to serve others for a few hours each week. I participate in service projects in our community a few times a year, and service projects for other ward members who may be in need. I make mistakes at times, but I know I can be forgiven through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Because I have an understanding of how much power and influence the adversary has over the inhabitants of this earth, it helps me to not be judgmental of people that are making bad choices. I know they too can conquer their sins and weaknesses through the Atonement. I am far from perfect, and I don't always do the right thing, but I am constantly striving to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I am thankful for that structure in my life, because I would be adrift in the temptations of the world if I didn't have that.
