Hi I'm Flora

I live in Delaware. I homeschool our children. I'm excited about the Temple being built in Philadelphia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, niece, wife, mom and homemaker. My family and my faith are at the heart of my life. I have enjoyed home schooling our children. Before I married and became a mom, I attended college, and worked as a preschool teacher, a biographical researcher, and in public policy and activism. Reading, singing, laughing, keeping up with current events, and watching old movies and 1950's sitcoms are some of my favorite activities. My husband and I enjoy serving in our home, our church and in our community. I've lived in nine U.S. states, and spent three years in Finland. I listen to and sing Christmas music year-round!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Latter-day Saint home and was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ from an early age. I learned to think about my words and deeds and to ask myself, "What would Jesus do?" I wanted to follow Jesus Christ and his example of love and service. I learned to read the scriptures, pray, attend church, serve, repent and listen to the Lord speak to me through the gift of the Holy Ghost (or Spirit). Hundreds of small but significant spiritual experiences added to my testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored church. I felt the love of my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. As I have continued to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ through my adult life, I have found peace and happiness. Making and keeping sacred covenants (promises to God), by being baptized and by participating in the blessings of the temple, has filled my soul with truth and light. I know that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and that He wants us to return to Him. He has a plan for our lives and knows each of us individually. I know that His son, Jesus Christ, is our Savior, and that the fulness of His gospel is found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

In my daily life, I strive to follow Him and His teachings. Since I'm not always successful in doing so, I am grateful for the sacrifice and atonement of Jesus Christ that provide a way for me to repent. I am grateful that I can attend church each Sunday to worship Him and partake of the sacrament (communion) which reminds me of what He has done for me. I feel strongly that the most important work I will do in this world is in my home, teaching and nurturing my children and creating a peaceful and happy home. Our home life is built on the teachings of Jesus Christ. I enjoy serving in the Church and have had opportunities to contribute in a variety of ways. When I was 14, I taught my younger brother's class in Primary (the Church's organization for children). Since then, I've taught teen and adult classes, conducted choirs, and led the Church's local organizations for women and for children. Currently, I'm involved in community outreach through the Church's public affairs program. Each new experience has provided personal growth, and opportunities to help others.
