Hi I'm Dave

I teach electrical engineering at the university level. I have a wife, 6 kids, and 13 grandkids and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I teach, do research, and write textbooks in the field of electrical engineering--the field that gives you computers, smart phones, video games, MRIs, iPads, and other electronic devices. It is an exciting, challenging field that I greatly enjoy. My wife, six kids, and 13 grandkids are also enjoyable. We take many vacations as a family. I like playing racquetball and golf. I have degrees from San Jose State University, the University of California, Berkeley, and Washington State University. After 53-1/2 years of teaching, I retired from Brigham Young University in August 2017 followed by an 18 month mission for the LDS Church to Anchorage, Alaska with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) because this Church answers all my questions about why we are here on this earth and the many places we might go in the next life. I believe that no Church can be correct unless they have a prophet that receives revelation from God--just as in the days of Abraham, Moses, or Paul. This Church has a prophet and provides guidance and direction in this life and emphasizes the importance of the family, both now and in the next life. I am very grateful for the Church and the positive effect it has had in my life and the lives of my family. It has been exciting to see people with no real direction in life join the Church and become excited about the happiness that comes into their lives.

How I live my faith

I try to be honest and seek after the honorable things in life. My family is very important to me and it is great when your kids grow up and become your friends. We attend Church each week and accept any responsibilities we are asked to fulfill. Since our Church is a lay Church, we all share in carrying out the program. It is exciting to see the growth of the Church, from 1 million members when I joined to over 15 million today.
