Hi I'm Amy

I love running. I love skiing. I love rock climbing. I like dancing with my friends. I like reading great books. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi everyone! I am Amy and I am a Latter-Day Saint!! I like to spend my days exploring the beautiful world around me. Although I love other cultures and traveling, I also believe that you never have to go far to see the miracles of God and the immense beauty in your life. On days when I'm inside I like to read about far off places and other centuries. I believe that life is fun and I believe in the unlimited power of kindness.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this Church contains the fulness of Christ's gospel. It has the authority of God to enact saving ordinances. Meaning that this is the Church that I know has the authority to baptize me and to seal me with my family forever. I love the hope that is found in Christ's gospel. Because of the Atonement that He carried out I can live with Him again. Because of Him I can be with my family and I know that life does not end with the grave. Because of Him I have the strength to make it through days of pain and grief. Because of Him I am joyful. I am a Mormon because I know without a doubt that Joseph Smith was called of God to restore His gospel. I am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I am a Mormon because I have received the clear confirmation from the Holy Ghost that this is the Church of Jesus Christ. I believe that this is the same church that Christ established during His time on earth. I am a Mormon because I know that true happiness comes through following Christ. I covenanted with Christ when I was baptized to follow Him. I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has the truth, revelation, and authority of God which I seek as I try to follow Him the best that I can.

How I live my faith

Psalms 118:24 says, "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Being a Latter-Day Saint is not a once a week activity. It is a daily, hourly decision. I live my faith by never losing focus of the Savior as the center of my life. I cannot allow other distractions become more important to me than my Father in Heaven. I have learned that reading the scriptures everyday, especially the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, makes it easier for me to uphold my standards and keep my covenants. Studying the words of previous and current prophets provides me with revelation from the Lord, which helps me know what His will is for me and keeps me more in touch with His Spirit. Everyday I try to live a life where I can feel the Holy Ghost to inspire, enlighten, and protect me. Living my faith everyday is not merely a list of tasks to complete, it is keeping my focus on God and letting that focus influence my attitude and decision-making process.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

The temple is the House of the Lord and is very sacred, especially to Latter-Day Saints. Baptized members of the Church can enter into the temple as they are prepared to do so. In D&C 88:119 the Lord instructed us to "organize [our]selves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God." In the temple we learn eternal truths. We also receive sacred blessings, like the ordinance of the sealing where a husband and wife are joined together for eternity, along with their family. The temple is a special place where we feel the Spirit of God as we learn and as we participate in sacred ordinances. Show more Show less
