Hi I'm Tyson

Born and raised in California. I love international cultures and have traveled around the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've always done things differently from everybody else. I studied Japanese while everybody else was studying French and Spanish. I went to school in Hawaii while all my friends went to Utah and Idaho. I bought a motorcycle while everybody i knew had cars. From a young age I used to think about deep topics more often than my peers. I've always been different.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me in the Church. My father was raised in a strong Mormon family and my mother was a powerful convert to the Church. They were both very faithful in teaching me the Gospel growing up. When I was young I did not doubt what my parents had taught me but I did not know it was true for myself either. So in my teenage years I went to a summer camp that the Church puts on all over the country called Especially For Youth (EFY). I started reading my scriptures for regularly, I started praying for real. Not just saying prayers but communing with my Heavenly Father. One night it was after curfew and lights out but as I prayed I felt like I should not finish praying and go to bed yet. I went to the clean, well-lit bathrooms to be by myself and prayed the most sincerely I ever had. I felt the Spirit of God guiding me in what to say. Then, as I prayed, I felt the most amazing feeling: I felt like my body was warm all over yet I was getting chills, I felt clarity of mind, I could "see" so clearly, like if a veil had been removed from my mind, and I could see the truth of all things, and I knew that God lived, that Jesus Christ was His Son. I knew that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon was true and this meant the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was God's one, true church. And as all this impacted me I suddenly felt the love of God. I felt it surround me in its fullness. I knew I was His son and that He loved me. It felt as if His arms wrapped around me in a tender embrace and when this happened I every good emotion to its fullest and began to weep from joy. A fullness of happiness. And I promised to serve God all my days and share what I had learned.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church every week. I visit members in their homes and seek to serve them and the people of my community in any and every way I can. I translate in the a Spanish-speaking branch of the Church in my area. I try to be a friend to the friendless and love others as God loves them. I share what I have learned by volunteering 2 full years to missionary service. I continue to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ as restored by Joseph Smith with who ever I can. And I wish to share it with you.
