Hi I'm Robert

I'm a Mormon. Soy Latino. I love adventures!

About Me

My parents are originally from Mexico, but my siblings and I were born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Music is my passion. I'm currently going to school in Hawaii. I needed to get away from the the hot desert of Arizona. I've learned how to surf and love spending time at the beach and hanging out with my friends. I love to do outdoors stuff and love going to the gym each morning. I'm a first generation college student.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother passed away when I was only 13 years old. It has been the toughest trial of my life. Having a knowledge of the Plan of Salvation, which has been revealed to modern prophets as well as the ancient ones, has helped me continue on with my life. Temples are very important in our faith. We believe that families can live forever (after this life) if the parents are married in the temple. I'm grateful that my parents did that because I have great hopes that one day I will be able to see my mom again and be able to be one big familia again. Growing up, I would go to church because my parents made me go, but as I was growing up, I knew I had to know if this is really the true church of God and Christ. I was always the only "Mormon friend" among my friends. I loved it because I was able to share my beliefs. Many times I've gotten made fun of because of my beliefs, but I would brush it off.

How I live my faith

I'm not perfect, but I try following the commandments that God has given us. I go to church most Sundays. Also, I try participating in church activities and events that help the community.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Robert
Most times I believe there is a God. Why "most" times and not ALL the times? God has not appeared to me. This is faith, believing in something you can't see but know is there. It can be tough to believe that there is a God with all the turmoil in this world. However, is it God causing it or humanity? God's will is that we follow his commandments and do good to those around us. So if everyone followed his commandments, there would be less suffering in the world. God doesn't take people's freedom to choose, even if they choose to do bad. Death, sicknesses, and pain are part of this mortal experience. I would invite everyone who has this question or wants to know more about the purpose of life or why good/bad things happen in this life, read more about "The Plan of Salvation." Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Robert
I love being a young adult! So far its been the best part of my life. I'm out on my own, living in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. People often think that Mormons are sheltered people that do not like to do anything, but read scriptures and go to church. That is not the case. Reading scriptures and going to church is part of our lives. Here are some of my favorite things to do: Dancing, playing sports, hanging out with friends, playing a musical instrument, go to the movies, go to concerts, eating out, going to professional sport events, and many more things. People often think that being Mormon is giving up the joys of life. . The truth is, God wants us to live happy. He has given us commandments so that they may help us live a happy life. I will be the first to admit that its may not always appear to be fun to follow the commandments, nor is it always the easiest or more popular choice. However, the commandments help keep us away from trouble. Show more Show less
