Hi I'm Michael

I am a "jack of all trades and master of none". I love to create music, sing, remodel, paint, hike, camp, laugh! And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

To put it in a nut shell, (pun intended ha ha) I am a very busy man most of the time. I am a painter by trade. I work at a shipyard and I paint submarines and aircraft carriers. It is an amazing job which I enjoy very much. When I am not working at work, I am working at home, landscaping, painting, remodeling etc. My home is 103 yrs. old and I have been working on it one room at a time. It is an amazing little home. I love music. I love all kinds of music. I love to create music on my synthesizer. I play Jazz, ragtime, classical, blues, new age and just about whatever sounds good. I sing with the Kitsap Chordsmen, a barbershop chorus and I also sing lead in a barbershop quartet called The Infourmants. I love to make people laugh. I have this little duck talk I can do that sounds like Donald Duck and a little like Yacki Doodle who is the little duck from Tom and Jerry. It always puts a smile on anyone who hears it. I have 4 children, three boys and one girl. I believe their mother and I did the very best we could raising them into adulthood. I am so very proud of all of them. I am number 6 of 7 children. I have some amazing siblings. My mother is my hero. She is just as busy as I am. I believe I have inherited those traits from her. My Dad and Mom did an amazing job at raising us kids. And there you have it, my little nut shell in a great big walnut tree.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a descendant of the Mormon Pioneers on both my Mother's and Father's sides. I have many written stories of my ancestors and their associations with all of the prophets of the church from Joseph Smith to our current Prophet, Thomas S. Monson. My ancestors hand work is seen inside the walls of the Tabernacle and the Salt Lake Temple. Their influence was spread throughout the west as they were asked by Brigham Young to settle in the Uintah mountains, and other areas around Salt Lake City. Many were called to serve missions which include serving the Native Americans, serving in The Central United States Mission, (which was still quite hostile against the Saints), Serving as missionaries to Build the New Zeland Temple, and other missions around the world. Now, my heritage is not the only reason I am a Mormon. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I have received my own witness to it's truthfulness. I have asked God in sincere prayer to know if it is true and I have received so many witnesses in my life that it is. I will never doubt that there is a higher power, that God the Father has a plan and that we are part of it. We are to come to this earth to have joy and to be happy and to be with our families forever. Also we are here to be able to make our own choices. We will be able to return to our Father in Heaven because of the the sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am your average blue collar worker. I work hard and I play hard. At work, people know who I am. I am not afraid to share my beliefs and I never force my views on another. I certainly hope that my actions speak louder than any word I could utter. I am a firm believer in service. I love to serve others. I love to help someone who is in need and when they offer to pay for my services I just smile and graciously decline. I go out with a group of men each week and we help those in our community, weather it is by chopping and delivering fire wood, mowing lawns or even building a deck. Whatever the circumstances are we try to meet their needs and I have seen the gratitude in their often tear filled eyes. Thank You for allowing me to be of service.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Michael
The Word of Wisdom is a law of health that was given to the Prophet Joseph Smith, which teaches that our bodies are a precious gift from God and that we are to obstain from harmful substances, which include coffee, tea, alcohol, illegal drugs and tobacco. It also teaches us to eat healthy. In my life now, I am very active. I love to run and to hike and cycle. I love going to the gym and improving my strength. I am very strict about keeping The Word of Wisdom. I try to eat healthy and I am a very firm believer of moderation in ALL things. There needs to be a balance of diet, exercise, and how you spend your time. I am very glad that I am not enslaved by any substance. I see the effects of this in how I can walk, run, cycle, and work out with out struggling to breathe. And how I can work through problems and stresses without needing a chemical to mask the problem. Most people who know me, know that I don't use drugs, smoke, drink alcohol or coffee and that I am much happier and more healthy by not doing so. Show more Show less
