Hi I'm Ryan Taylor

I'm a student, I'm an Alpha Tau, I'm an avid whitewater kayaker, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. My favorite activities include whitewater kayaking, longboarding, snowboarding, skiing, and anything else that has to do with water in its various forms. Basically if I can get out of my house and play, I'm satisfied. On August 5, 2011, I returned from serving a 2-year mission to the Baltic States. I specifically served the people of Latvia. The experience changed the course of my life and solidified my testimony of and faith in Jesus Christ. Almost immediately after returning to the United States, I resumed my studies at Utah State University, and I am studying international business, finance, and economics. I love everything about it.....accept exams. While serving in Latvia, I also acquired a love of languages, so now I am polishing up in preparation for studies abroad in Russia. I love to be involved in the community. I loved serving on the Mayor's Youth Advisory Board of the City of Rexburg, as well as other community and school organizations. Serving those around me has brought me pure joy and a Christlike love for my neighbors. As another means of service, I am a member and Vice President of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at Utah State University. As a member of America's Leadership Development Fraternity, I am gaining experience in leadership, academic excellence, service, and brotherhood. My involvement in church, studies, work, and extracurricular activities prepare me in many ways for the responsibilities of being a father.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know I am a son of God. I know that through the Atonement of Christ I am saved from physical death and given the opportunity to repent and be saved from spiritual death. As a son of God, I highly value my membership in the church of His Son, Jesus Christ, my Brother. I love that I can always turn to Christ, His Church, and its faithful members for support in my times of trial. I also love that because of the way Jesus Christ has organized His Church, I can share my testimony with others, lift them, help them to see the light and knowledge that can be gained through baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and the channel of personal revelation that follows. I love the Lord. I strive daily to become more like Him. Through the ups and downs in life, the trials and triumphs, I have come to understand that no other organization can help me come closer to Jesus Christ and to reach my full potential than can Christ's own church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

As a full-time student and prospective international businessman, I have dedicated myself to living only the highest standards so that others might recognize me as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Of course, as imperfect as I am, I slip and fall occasionally. I firmly believe, however, that it is not the fall that counts as a loss, but that the true loss occurs if I give up and simply accept myself as imperfect and unworthy. As a disciple of Christ, I fall, but I get back up as quickly as possible and without delay. The fall is merely an experience from which I can learn and become more like our Savior.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Ryan Taylor
First and foremost, we can stop the spread and influence of pornography by choosing today...right now...to never indulge in it ourselves. Pornography tears apart families, destroys positive relationships, creates mistrust, discomfort, and disappointment, and rewires the brains of its users. We must lovingly help others understand the dangers of pornography and how Satan is using it as strong chemical warfare (in our brains) to pull apart our families and drive us away from God and normal relationships. In addition to spreading the truth about the dangers of pornography, we can contribute to outreach programs that fight its spread such as Family Watch International, Fight the New Drug, Morality in Media, the Heritage Foundation, TheParentsEdge, LDS Family Services, and Life Changing Services.
