Hi I'm Ben Merrill

I strive every day to do the right and follow Christ's example. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a simple person that lives his life quietly and privately. I am currently a student at a university and am going through the phase in life of finding out who I want to be and what I want to do for the rest of my life. I am a well-rounded guy, with a passion for music, sports, reading, and helping others. I tend to think of myself as no one special, no one that stands out, but I know that to my Heavenly Father, I stand out. When I feel alone in this huge university, I know that I am never alone, and that's what keeps me going.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in a family of Mormons, and as such I've grown up very involved in the Church. But it took me a while to discover why I'm a Mormon. After years of falling down and getting up, I finally realized that it was only through the Church and through my Savior Jesus Christ that I was able to get up again. He is the One that has changed me and made me a different person. I could not be where I am now if it weren't for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was when I finally realized those blessings in my life that I was able to comprehend why I'm a Mormon. I know that it is the Church of God, the only true Church, and it is where He wants me to be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day to day. I think often of the examples Christ gives in the Bible of the hypocritical Pharisees that only lived their religion on their sleeve, and then only when they had to. The ideal in the world today is to be religious only on Sundays. I strive to follow the admonition of the Savior to succor the weak and lift up the hands that hang down. And that doesn't happen only on Sundays. I am assigned to be the leader of about 20 men my age. It is my responsibility to watch out for them, care for them, to be their shepherd and watchman. I find my greatest joys come as I serve them and as I serve others. Feeling the love of the Savior for them is an incredible feeling, and it is my joy and privilege to know that I am doing what the Savior were doing if he were here and in my place. I know that God doesn't expect me to be perfect, and that took me quite a while to learn for myself. But I do know that he asks me to give my best, my very best, and that is what I strive to do every day of my life. Do my best to follow Christ's example and serve Him the best that I can.
