Hi I'm Jack

I work for the US Department of Energy. I am married and a father of three children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in New Mexico, the fifth of eleven children. I have three children of my own, the oldest just started college. Since I have been married, we have lived in several different parts of the country--Tennessee, Colorado, Illinois, New Mexico, South Carolina. I enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy getting outside, working in the yard, going out in the woods, parks, etc.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in an LDS family. I always tried to do what I was taught and believed what I was taught, but did not alwalys know for myself that it was true. I relied on my parents and family for that. When I was in high school, I decided I had to find out for myself. I decided to take to heart the promise of the Book of Mormon (Moroni 10:4) and read and pray about it specifically. I took me several months of concerted study and prayer, till finally the Lord decided I was humble enough to tell me Himself, through the Holy Ghost, that it is true.

How I live my faith

The church is run by a lay ministry of men and women who are asked to serve in specific areas. I am currently in the Bishopric, the body that has responsibilities over the entire ward (congregation). Some of my specific duties include overseeing the Sunday School instruction, cub scouts, and the childrens' organization (my favorite part). I, with my son, am a "home teacher", assigned a specific responsibility to visit and watch over a few families of our ward. We also participate in service projects as they come up, often eagle scout projects. Mostly, I just try to live my faith by example, never doing anything that would shame my Savior. I try to live so that those around me will not be surprised by my words or actions, coming from a Mormon.
