Hi I'm Sarah

I LOVE the performing arts, I enjoy life with people I love, I'm a Sister Missionary in Long Beach California, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second oldest of 4 kids, I have 2 sisters and one younger brother. I love my family and I am grateful for them. I was born in Alberta Canada and lived there for 19 years. When I graduated from High School I moved to Salt Lake City Utah and worked and did theater. I LOVE doing the performing arts. I have been dancing ever since I can remember from dances such as Ballet, Jazz, Ballroom, Latin, etc. I have also done many shows in community theater and have been in plays such as Robyn Hood, Cinderella, My Son Pinocchio, and many others as well as stage manage, choreographing, hair and make and others. I love to sing and will sometimes break out in song just for fun. I enjoy life and try to enjoy every moment of it and don't let the little things get me down. I am currently serving a full time mission in the California Long Beach Mission. The smallest geographical mission in the world (other than Temple Square) and the BEST mission in the world. I love every moment of it and its the best decision I have every made to come out and serve the Lord. I LOVE the savior and I LOVE doing his work!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the influence it has been in my life. I was born into the gospel and it has always been a blessing. When I read the scriptures (especially The Book Of Mormon) I can feel my loving Heavenly Fathers love for me and also the Saviors love. I feel the spirit come over me and He as answered so many of my prayers through the scriptures. During my life I have had many struggles, just as many other people have had. Sometimes I have wondered if I am even thought of or why do things happen to good people when we try to hard? But I have come to understand that Our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ have a kind of love that no one can ever give. It is an eternal love, unconditionally given to all of His children. It has given me strength to look for the good in all things even when things seems tough. Life is worth living and there is a purpose for us all. When we put our trust in the Lord and He will bless us continually. Being able to serve Him as a missionary has been a HUGE blessing in my life. I get to be and instrument in His hands and share His love and truth to all. I have seen how the gospel can and has blessed the lives of so many people who are looking for a peace, or a yearning for something that only our Father in Heaven can be able to give us and it is all through our Loving Savior Jesus Christ. I have come to know a better understanding of the Saviors Atonement and have grown so much closer to Him that I have ever thought I could. Its there for us. He did all that He did for us because He loves ALL of us. I KNOW that this church is the church of Jesus Christ. That it was restored through a prophet, Joseph Smith. That we have the fullness of the gospel on the earth. We have a prophet on the earth today and we can hear his voice. I LOVE the scriptures, especially The Book Of Mormon, and that "a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than any other book." I KNOW its true...and you can too. Just trust Him and see.

How I live my faith

I was born into the church but I know that everyone needs to build their own testimony of the gospel. I have always known that this is the true gospel because of my experiences and of the spirit that has bore witness of the truthfulness. Right now I am serving a full time mission for the Lord. I am serving in Long Beach California mission and loving every moment of it. I get to share this wonderful gospel with everyone. I get to share and bare testimony of how families can be together forever, how Christs church has been restored to its fullest just as it was when Christ established it on the earth when he was here, how God has called another prophet, Joseph Smith, to restore it and how we have a living prophet now to lead and guide us. And I am honored to be called by that prophet, Thomas S. Monson, to be a representative of Jesus Christ and take the gospel to all who has been prepared to receive it. I have a great love for my Savior and all that he has done for me including giving us another testimony of Jesus Christ- The Book of Mormon. I love reading from the scriptures (the Bible and The Book of Mormon). I know that they are the words of Christ and reading both will draw us closer to our Savior and our Heavenly Father. I live my life by my words and example. It makes a big difference on what you say, do, wear, and act. I want to live the way the savior would want me to live. Even when you think no one is watching or listening they are, and it makes a big difference in a persons life by that example. So I live how I want others to see me as and my Savior. That's why when I do my theater or dance or song its appropriate so that the youth or other around will know my values and what I stand for... a representative of the Savior and a daughter of God.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Sarah
The women don't have the priesthood because the Lord has put it that way. But that doesn't mean that women have any lesser importance than men. Holding the priesthood is a big responsibility that worthy men hold, but as women we hold a big responsibility too, motherhood. This does not mean that we are to live in the kitchen all day and slave away but the Lord has trusted us with a sacred duty to bare and care for Gods children and I am honored to be able to have that responsibility. I still have rights to the priesthood and may ask for a blessing or other things that can pertain to the priesthood so I really don't feel left out. When husband and wife work together then they are able to have all the blessings of the priesthood and motherhood. We work together always. And how do women lead in the church? We have one of the largest organizations in the world known as the Relief Society. This is where we can hold our own offices and participate in the work in the church. I am currently serving a full-time mission for the Lord and I believe that is a great calling and I am proud to do so. I know that my role as a woman is just as important as the men in the church. We are all children of God and that is important. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Sarah
Yes we most definitely are! I KNOW with out a doubt in my mind or heart that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. "We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach in Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." (2 Nephi 25:26 in the Book of Mormon) Everything that we teach and share is centered on Jesus Christ. He is my Savior and King and I love Him! Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Sarah
We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. We also believe The Book of Mormon to be the word of God. These two books hold the fullness of the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe the the Bible was written by prophets of God who were chosen to write and minister and bare witness of Jesus Christ to Gods children. This is also true in The Book of Mormon. These too have records of ancient prophets in the Americas who wrote, ministered and bore witness of Jesus Christ. The Doctrine and Covenants are revelations by Joseph Smith for the people in these last days. They too are considered scripture. When a prophet speaks it too is revelation from God and that revelation is for the benefit of all. It teaches us how to become more like our savior and to live happy and fulfilled lives here on earth. We are so blessed to be able to have these records that bare record of our Savior and His teachings. We can know that they are true by reading, "ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost."- found in the introduction of the Book of Mormon and in Moroni 10:3-5. I treasure them and KNOW that they are true. I know that you will too. Show more Show less
