Hi I'm Elaina

I'm an ordinary woman (Mom, Nana, Sister, Daughter and Friend) striving to improve myself with each day and I am Mormon

About Me

Love popcorn, most genres of movies except horror. I like old TV shows and happy endings. I'd rather be hurt than mad. I dont have a mean bone in my body. I fight to keep from hybernating in my shell. I like my own company as much as l like being with a close friend. My tombstone should read "She always got back up" My license plate should read "goinhm" (from song "goin' home" from the album "The Plan") cause thats what its all about for me. My favorite quote comes when thinking about giving to the needy (even if you are unsure if they are really needy) - quote "It's better to give to someone who doesnt need it then to miss someone who does" said by my grandmother.

Why I am a Mormon

When at 13 I learned there was a Jesus Christ and that he died for me I began searching for churches to find out what he wanted me to do. I went to all kinds of churches for 3 years and was bold in asking questions. I had a foundation that Christ and Heavenly Father were so loving that they sacrificed all for me. So in my quest, if what I found out didn’t support that, I moved on. When I took the lessons that told about what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believed it was like I was hearing something I had heard before. Like a distant memory coming back to me. And When Reading the Book of Mormon, the Witnesses of Christ and His truth coincided so well what I already learned in the Bible and even made it clearer. I never doubted the authenticity of the book. It was like reading excerpts of people's diaries. Since I kept a diary it didn’t seem farfetched to think others from other times did so also. It was a collection of amazing stories and they were true and helped in teaching me about how to live His Gospel. I did pray about both the book and the Church but I knew that the Holy Spirit had whispered to me already that it was true. I knew that this was where I was going to find the fullness of God's Gospel. And as I continued through my life, clinging to its truths and trying to live the Gospel I have found healing, comfort, hope, wisdom, unconditional love and my true identity

How I live my faith

I have found that doing the basics keeps me grounded and feeling the peaceful assurance of the Spirit. Praying every day and reading the Scriptures. I love how the Gospel teaches us the importance of staying connected to each other, investing ourselves in others. I have participated in many service projects through Mormon Helping Hands where we help with community projects like helping at the relay for life for Cancer Society, and cleaning up places around where we live. I have had the privilege of being involved within our women's organization tending the needy and educating others. We have banded together to advocate anything that promotes healthy family relationships. We celebrate the sacredness of family. I have learned skills to make me a better member of the Family, community, and a better advocate of God's word. I continue to learn practical skills as well like budgeting, child raising skills, and homemaking skills, etc. I really liked when we made throw blankets and caps for hospital patients and little kits of toiletries, snacks and useful local information for those family members in the waiting room of the trauma units. We always have goals to find worthy causes to help with. There is much responsibility and much reward for belonging to God's Church and I wouldn’t have it any other way

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Elaina
I feel one of the best ways to increase faith in Jesus Christ is to get to know him. Here are 3 suggestions on how to do that ...1) Learn about Him. Start by delving into the scriptures. Read about Him and pay attention to the attributes He has. He is an amazing person. You can even list them somewhere. I mark next to a scripture an "A" for attribute of Christ. ...2) Talk to Him. Pray to feel His love for you and try sharing with him as you would with a loving and loyal Brother, for that is what He is. ...3) Walk with Him by experimenting on His word. Do what He asks you do. He says He is the way, the light and the truth... That through Him is the path to happiness. So try walking that path with Him. I truly believe as you get to know Jesus better, your faith in Him can’t help but grow. You will see he is worthy of your trust in Him. He will become your friend, healer, advisor, and advocator.
