Hi I'm Sally

I am a wife, a mother, and a singing guidance counselor at a local school and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother, which I consider a most important work above all others that I have. I enjoy spending time with my family, and I love to travel. I have 4 children and within the past few years have experienced the joy of having grandchildren! I love music and I love to sing. I especially love the influence of good music in my daily life. It has the power to bring a person joy during good times and during trials as well. I sing every day, (especially in my car!); I love to sing for special family and Church events as well. I work part time as a guidance counselor in a local elementary school. I love working with children and teens and believe that one caring adult can change the life of a child forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always a Mormon. When I was a young child my brother and sister and I experienced the pain associated with my parent's divorce, and then as a teen this pattern continued while I lived with my mother. Although I was loved and cared for my desire for a family life where consistently strong values prevailed grew. Missionaries found my mother and I when I was very young, and at age eight I was baptized. My mother worked many hours and began to miss Church meetings, and then stopped coming altogether. When I started high school I was fortunate in that my best friend just happened to be a Mormon. I spent much time with her family and the Spirit felt within the walls of her home filled my life with something I had always desired. I began to attend Church with her after many years of being away. As a young woman in my teenage years I began to learn of my purpose, I developed a strong since of my identity as a daughter of God. I didn't believe in the Book of Mormon or the teachings of Christ because my friend did, I prayed about the Book of Mormon, and experienced the strongest witness of the truth of the Savior's teachings as I had never before experienced. I knew that Jesus Christ was my Savior, that He has always known me by name, and that now my life would be full of the values and joy I sought if I but followed His teachings as found in this sacred record. I love the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I went on to find a young man who believes in being true and honest in all things. We work together to keep the commandments of God in our family and value our family and our marriage as something to fight for even when the influence found in the world can be difficult. The teachings of Jesus Christ as found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints are pure and true, and I am a Mormon because I know the true happiness I have, even in the most perilous of times, comes from the knowledge I have gained in this Church.

How I live my faith

I have always believed that one caring adult can change the life of a child. I also believe that one youth (or adult) armed with the truth and light of Christ, can change the world. I serve on a daily basis as a leader of youth in our area; my work in the Church involves helping to organize major events for several hundred youth that take place consistently throughout the year. I love the youth of the Church. I do not serve for pay...I cannot begin to put into words the "payment" I have received in blessings for my family and my own children. Our example of service to others is one of the most powerful influences we have upon children and others. I do not see this as a burden upon my time, I see this as the very fabric of a meaningful and happy life. The experiences that come from service bring a fullness of joy. There is no other joy that compares to watching your own child, or a young teenager, strive to live life as the Lord has taught - discovering the love He has for them as they learn of His truth, keep His commandments and become mentally and physically pure and strong. I seek for opportunities to help them understand that they are indeed children of God. I will travel frequently to reach out to youth, and in my work specifically with young teenage girls, to share in their lives, their accomplishments, and their desire to associate with and one day marry a young man who will equally hold fast to these standards of truth and righteousness.
