Hi I'm Patti

I am a wife, a mother and a full-time student to become a Registered Dietitian. I enjoy shooting sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother of 3 children (9 yr. 11 yr. & 14 yr.) in which one has Down's Syndrom. I am a full-time student in the Dietetics Program in which I am working on my Bachelor's Degree. I visit a nursing home with my dog who is trained as a therapy dog. I am a Senior Member and the Public Affairs Officer in Civil Air Patrol. I am the treasurer and I also trained as a basketball skills & team coach for the local Special Olypics group. I am the Vice President of our local gun club in which I am also a Range Supervising Officer. I recently trained as a Basic Pistol Instructor with my husband. I recently took the Hunter's Education class with my daughter. I enjoy shooting pistol, rifle, shotgun, muzzeloader, and bow. But, shotgun is my favorite, even though I can't hit the clay pigeons to well. I am teaching the 12-14 year old's at church. I also enjoy hiking, camping (in a tent), & canoeing. I enjoy walking, riding my bike, and roller bladding for exercise.

Why I am a Mormon

I have spent most of my life confused about religion and seeing it being very hypocritical. I had decided that all religions were correct and wrong at the same time after doing extensive research on some of the more mainstream churches. I found that all churches have the same basic belief of doing the best you can in life and to help each other out & this is the basis of a church that I wished existed. That is one that teaches you on how to be a good person without putting fear into you. Then, one day a couple of missonaries showed up at our door and wanted to talk with us all. They did not threaten or push a point, they just listened and a showed a respect that I never saw in any other religious person. After investigating I realized through prayer that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the church that I have always looked for and wanted to belong to. As a family we learned about the church together and felt never so fulfilled as when we went. We then become baptised & confirmed together, except for my son who has Down's. The LDS church gives us comfort, hope, and a purpose in life through love and trust. That is why I am a Mormon and will continue to serve out my purpose in life here on Earth.

How I live my faith

I teach the 12-14 year olds in our church the lesson for the day. Along with another member we try to visit three other members once a month. I continue to teach my children throughout the week of different topics that may come up and to also help guide them in making right choices through the word of God (Heavenly Father), Jesus Christ, and to also listen to the Holy Spirit.
