Hi I'm Ian

I love life and try everyday to live it to the fullest. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 26 years old and a graduate from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a degree in Communications and Business. I currently work as a corporate trainer and recruiter for DishONE Satellite, a door to door based retailer for Dish Network. I am also a part of a growing event business known as, "The Uprising". Our Main goal and objective is to inspire individuals of all ages to "rise up" and do what they want to do and be who they want to be in life regardless of the different pressures and/or circumstances they feel may hold them back from achieving those goals. Our mission, simply put, is to be the change that we ourselves wish to see in the world. We celebrate each other's lives by throwing large scale, fun and clean events to symbolize this "Uprising"; from a small party in Provo to being nationwide. In 2006, I served a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Managua, Nicaragua mission. no monetary worldly resource could provide me with the understanding, the experiences and the physical, mental and spiritual growth I experienced in those two years. I am who I am today because of my mission and I will be forever grateful for the hardest, yet rewarding times of my entire life. I love almost any form of media: music, movies, books etc. I love to snowboard, play football, baseball and many other activities as well. I believe life is meant to be spontaneous, fun and that each of us should embrace it with eagerness and a spirit of joy.

Why I am a Mormon

My story is somewhat unique I believe. My father was raised in the church, one of 12 kids. However, as life went on, he chose a different path and eventually found himself completely inactive and married to my non-member mother. In just a few short years, they were divorced and my father began to re-evaluate his life. Although his inactivity was extensive, he eventually decided to come back to the church and embraced it with every ounce of his faith. I was technically raised in the church from the time I was about 6; raised by my father and my step mother who was a faithful return missionary for the church and saw greatness in my struggling single father. From the time I was 6 until I was about 16, our family went through many hardships and I was torn between two lifestyles-the life of a faithful member of the church, and a life where I could choose to be faithful or not. At the time I was 16, I began to feel a desire to really know if what I had been taught all my life was true or not. I decided to meet with the missionaries as a member of the church. After meeting with them, learning from them, reading the Book of Mormon for myself and praying to my Heavenly Father, I came to know of it's truthfulness and the truthfulness of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Since that time, I have continually grown in faith, and testimony. Why I'm a Mormon? I'm a Mormon because I know personally, without a shadow of a doubt that jesus Christ is at the head of this church. I know that he leads and guides us with prophets and apostles just like biblical times. The heavens are not shut. The Lord loves us and sacrificed himself for us so that we can be made clean in all of our imperfections; so that we can find solace in a world of chaos and lost values. His church and gospel have been restored to the earth once again and it is governed by true principles and doctrines. i'm a Mormon because it brings great joy to my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith to the best of my ability. I am not perfect and recognize that completely. But I also know that something more is expected of me. I know the Lord loves me and that my true potential is great and he knows that. As I learn to rely on the Lord, to look for him for guidance and qualify for his help and blessings through obedience and faithfulness, I can learn what my true potential is and become the friend, brother, son, husband, father and man he wants me to be. I understand that with faith, whatever I need to strengthen, whatever weaknesses I may have, are made strong by the Lord. I live my faith by continually recognizing the need to improve and use the atonement in my life. I embrace the gospel and try my hardest to apply the principles I've both taught and learned throughout my life on a daily basis. My favorite scripture is found in the Book of Mormon in the book of Ether. In chapter 12, verse 4 it says: "Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of god, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God. " I believe this with all my heart and pattern my life after it.
