Hi I'm Rebecca

I'm a singer, sister, best friend, daughter, learner, and life-liver. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I'm not busy doing homework, I like to do a wide range of activities. I like to read, play piano, sing, play softball, go hiking, biking, swimming, camping, hunting, and fishing. I love to spend time with my family. The best memories I have with my family are the many road trips we've been on together. In my family I have my mom & dad and 4 sisters. I am the second youngest, so I have 3 sisters that I can look to for help or advice. My younger sister, though 7 years younger, is my best friend. I'm very friendly and I like to think I'm easy going. I get along well with almost everyone. I like to form opinions about everything and I'm not afraid to voice them. I just finished my first year at Brigham Young University as a Freshman studying Wildlife and Wildland Conservation. In July of this year (2013) I will be leaving to serve a mission in the California Irvine area. I am so grateful for this chance to serve the Lord and share the love of Christ with others.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I had became a member through baptism at age 8, I never really learned what this church meant to me until very recently. I always attended my church meetings and activities, but there was no driving force behind my actions. When I turned 16 I received my patriarchal blessing. Hearing about my potential in this life and in the life to come really caused me to consider the church. I decided I needed to do some searching for myself. I read my scriptures and prayed fervently to know that this Gospel is true. I've hit a couple rough patches in my teenage years, but those hard times caused me to really cling to the Lord. I prayed everyday and I developed a really personal relationship with God. I know without a doubt that He is real and that He is there for me always and will help me no matter what. I also know that no matter what mistakes I make He loves me and loves all of His children. I know that he is our Father and that Jesus Christ is our Redeemer. He suffered for us and he hung on the cross so that my soul may be saved if I just humble my heart and do what he has commanded me to do. I know that all of us are children of our Heavenly Father and He loves us immensely. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church. I testify that if you pray to God, He will bless your life in ways you never thought possible and enlighten your mind to help you make decisions. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings each week. During the week I try to represent Christ and his church by being kind, modest, virtuous, and positive. I'm learning to be a light to others so that they may also know of the goodness of God. Each night I read from the Book of Mormon to increase my faith and to build a stronger relationship with my Heavenly Father. Occasionally, I participate in baptism for the dead in one of many temples throughout the world. Also, I can live my faith while attending school. Although I attend BYU and mostly everyone shares my same values I feel that living according to what I know is right helps others to feel like they can as well.
