Hi I'm Karen

I'm a Mormon from South Carolina.

About Me

I am from South Carolina. I have grown up in the South my entire life. When I graduated from High school, I went to a community college and later a school in Idaho. Later I served a mission in Spokane, Washington. I like to sing. From the time that I was a little kid, I have always loved to sing. I also really love to take pictures. I love seeing the world from behind the lens of a camera. When I get the chance, I love to help other people to learn. I love to tell people stuff in a way that makes it easier for them to understand. I also love to help other people.

Why I am a Mormon

When people ask me me when I became a Mormon, I tell them that I have always attended my church, but sometimes I forget to tell them that just because I grew up a Mormon doesn't mean that I didn't have to decide that that is what I wanted in my life. I remember as a teenager I got to a point where I had to decide that being a Mormon was the right thing to do. I had to stop relying on the testimony of my parents and make sure that I had one of my own. I looked inside myself and realized that I wasn't relying on anyone else's testimony but I had one of my own. I realized that I knew that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. To this day I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I know it with all of my heart and it makes me happy to know that I do have a Savior who loves me enough to give me so much light and truth. Life has not been easy for me and I have had some really hard trials that I have had to go. I know that the Savior has been there with me and supported me through all of those trials. He has never left me alone and I know that he will always be there for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an active participant in my church. One of the things that I do is that I work with the 8 to 11 year old girls. Twice a month we do an activity with these girls. We have a lot of fun but we also try to help the girls to learn about God and to learn about themselves and to understand how important they are and how keeping the commandments can help them. We also talk about practical skills such as sewing and cooking. In out last activity we talked about "the whole armor of God." We talked about how we needed to use the armor to protect us. We made shields and then used them in a Marshmallow war. We had fun and we learned something.
