Hi I'm Leona Duval

I enjoy couponing, spending time with family, and learning new skills.

About Me

My membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is of absolute importance to me. In a lot of ways living the gospel and becoming more like Christ is one of my life time goals. I know that following the gospel is what makes you truly happy. As for my daily life, I am the wife of a medical student and a mother of two beautiful little girls. I am also working on line to finish my Bachelor's Degree. Living on student loans has given me a great desire to live frugally. Because of this I have become a coupon nut! I am also an avid bargain hunter. Where there is a deal to be found, I will be there.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into the church, I too had to come to know if it is true or not. At a very trying time in my life, I decided to take Moroni's challenge and pray to know if the Book of Mormon is true. I felt the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. Over time, I came to know that we are led by a living prophet of God and that this is truly the Lord's church today. In addition to this, I also have felt the overwhelming blessings that comes from being a member of God's church on this earth today. I know that God loves me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by how I live every day of my life. I try to LIVE the gospel, not just go to church on Sunday. I am trying to teach my two little girls of God's love for them and help them find where they too can find the peace that I have found. I also try to be open with my neighbors and friends about the truths that I have been taught in this church.

What is the Law of Chastity?

Leona Duval
Simply put, the Law of Chastity is a law put forth by our loving Heavenly Father to allow us the most peace and happiness in this life. We are taught that we should have no sexual relations before we are legally married as husband and wife. Once we are married, we then are commanded to be completely faithful to our spouse. We should endeavor to be faithful not only in our actions, but also in our very thoughts. In 1995, the first presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints stated, "We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan." Each soul is important. I know as I have lived the law of chastity I have experienced greater happiness and peace than I could have ever imagined. I have also enjoyed the confidence in my relationship with my husband that accompanies the observance of this law. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Leona Duval
No we do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith did an amazing thing for us. Through him, the Christ's church was once again established on the Earth. I am very grateful to Joseph Smith for what he did, but I do not worship him! It is only through Jesus Christ that salvation comes. Show more Show less

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

Leona Duval
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is similar to the bible in that the Book of Mormon contains words of prophets just as the Bible does. The Bible is more or less the record of the Jews where as the Book of Mormon is a record of the inhabitants of the people of America. Inside the Book of Mormon is filled with countless teachings of Jesus Christ, God's plan of happiness, and the importance of the Atonement. The Bible and the Book of Mormon work hand in hand as a double witness of Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrifice for us. Joseph Smith was led to the ancient record written on gold plates by an angel of God named Moroni. Joseph later translated the record, or the Book of Mormon, into English by the power of god. How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Leona Duval
There are many different ways that you could find someone to talk to about the Church of Jesus Christ. The mormon.org website has a link that can help you request missionaries to come right to your door. I served as a missionary for 18 months a few years back and I loved it when we received referrals! Another place to learn more about the church would be to talk to any friends or family members you know who are already members of the Church of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
