Hi I'm Danika

I love the outdoors: mountains, trees, and bugs! I just married the man of my dreams. I'm a science teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from Brigham Young University and got married! I'm now a licensed science teacher and wife. Yay! I love science, and I want my students to love it too! Miles and I were married in April in the Salt Lake Temple. He is a professional track athlete, so we have enjoyed traveling to various meets in the last few months. He is also great motivation for me to start running again and get in shape! I also like to ride my bike alongside him when he goes on long runs. We will be moving to Austin, TX in August so that he can train with the Austin Track Club. Even though I'm a little scared to move to an unfamiliar place, I am super excited for the opportunities that surely await us there.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members, so I've grown up with the gospel for my entire life. When I was younger, it was easy to follow the gospel because it was the only lifestyle I really knew about. All of my friends and family were members. Getting baptized was a very easy decision for me. As I got older, I realized that I couldn't live the gospel just because my parents told me to. I needed to figure out if living the gospel was what I wanted. I made a plan: I would study the Book of Mormon on my own, I would listen to the latter-day prophets, and I would pray and ask my Heavenly Father for confirmation. As I did those things, my faith was strengthened. I wasn't perfect, though. I still made mistakes and took steps in the wrong direction, but as I went through those trials and hardships, I realized that the gospel is what makes me happy. The standards aren't in place to restrict us or take away our free will. They are the guidelines that Heavenly Father has created that, if we live by them, will make us happier than by any other way. I'm a Mormon because I know that the gospel is what will bring me the most joy in this life and in the next one. I'm a Mormon because I know the gospel's teaching are true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to live within the standards of the church and helping others to do so. I work closely with other women in my ward to make sure that everyone is taken care of physically and spiritually. I try to strengthen my testimony every day so that I can share it with others and teach my own children one day.
