Hi I'm Mary

I'm half from Utah, half from Maryland. I love Justin Bieber, Harry Potter, my husband and watching sports. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 years old and attending college. It has always been my dream to be an anchor on SportsCenter, so I'm studying communications. My plans have changed slightly since I've met the man I'm going to marry and now the thing that I look forward to most is starting a family with him. I grew up in southern Utah, and I love it there. I quickly became acclimated to the year-round warm temperatures. But my heart is on the east coast in Maryland, where I was born and lived the first 12 years of my life. Washington D.C. is my favorite city on Earth. I'm a Harry Potter fanatic, and a hardcore Belieber. I try to watch every single basketball game that's a part of March Madness. I love to cook. I love to eat. And I love to be with the ones I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church but both of my parents are converts. Their knowledge of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and their surety of it is what has given me mine. From the time I was little I participated in all things LDS, attended church and primary and church activities. The LDS church is a part of who I am. I'm not one of those people who had one shining moment where they just knew without a doubt that the church is true, the knowledge came to me steadily and surely. I know that the church is true because of the everyday blessings I see in my life. With me, it's the little things. That's something that I love about the gospel. It is such an individual thing. I'm a Mormon because the gospel suits me individually. And because the LDS church centers on Jesus Christ, whom I have learned a lot about--whom I believe in and love. I am a member of the LDS church because I, along with the rest of the membership, believe that Jesus Christ performed the atonement so that I can one day become like Him and like God. I am LDS because I believe in hope and Christ's atonement is the perfect picture of hope for someone who makes mistakes daily, like me.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith daily by doing things that I know would please God. I try to be kind to those around me, work hard, be productive, say my prayers, study the word of God, live a healthy lifestyle and more. I participate in 3 hours of church every Sunday and usually spend at least 2 hours aside from that during the week participating in ward activities that can be really fun. We get together and play or eat or study, sometimes all 3. I recently got to go to the temple and now attending the temple is a way I live my faith. It truly is a place of love and beauty. My husband and I are newlyweds and are also trying to get into the habit of having Monday night family home evenings, so that we can spend time together, with our undivided attention on each other, and teach other the things that we know about religion and life.
