Hi I'm Tamara

I am a Global Account Manager, and I love to travel the world. Even so, I'm still small town girl at heart. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. I went on my first camping trip when I was only 6 months old! I love to camp and hike. I love music, and play a few instruments just for fun. I love to travel both in the USA and around the world. I have visited almost every state in the USA, only a couple more to go! I have been to a couple of dozen countries around the world. I love to meet people, and learn about the culture and history of the places I visit. I love to read; my favorite subject is history. I am very active in my community, I really love doing meaningful volunteer work. I also love to serve in church. Right now I am teaching teenagers in Sunday School -- they are awesome and we have a lot of fun while learning more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful to my Father in Heaven and my Savior Jesus Christ for the wonderful blessings in my life. When responsibilities become challenging, it's such a comfort to know what is really important in life. I am grateful for the perspective the gospel brings.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a different faith, and although I was very devout in my beliefs, I had a lot of questions that were not answered. I could see that some of our practices were not the same as recorded in the Bible; I always felt that something was missing. Frankly, I had only heard negative things about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While I was in college, I became friends with a member of the church. I started to read the Book of Mormon to point out the errors to my friend. However, as I read the Book of Mormon, I could find nothing in it which contradicted the teachings of the Bible. In fact, the Book of Mormon actually stands as a second witness that the teachings of the Bible are true. As I read the Book of Mormon, I felt a warmth and peace, and in my heart I could feel that it was true. When I reached the end of the book, I prayed with a sincere heart to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I received an undeniable, unshakable answer that yes, the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and stands as a second witness that Jesus Christ is our Savior. For the first time in my life, all of my questions were answered, and I knew the answers were true. I could feel the Holy Spirit witness the truth to me, especially as I pondered and prayed about my questions. I had never been satisfied with the organization and administration of the church in my previous faith; it did not always follow the teachings in the Bible. Jesus Christ established his church on this earth before he ascended to Heaven. I was excited to learn that Jesus Christ had restored his church again to the earth, along with all of the blessings of His true church. I prayed to know if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true, and I received a witness and testimony that it is indeed the restored church of Jesus Christ. Knowing these things to be true, I had a sincere desire to be baptized and join the church. It is the best decision I have ever made in my life!

How I live my faith

I love serving in my community. I love the one-on-one youth mentoring of being a "Big Sister." I also love spending time as a "Friendly Visitor" at a local Veterans' home. I really enjoy the home building projects with our local Habitat organization. I have great joy in teaching a public class about our founding fathers and our inspired US Constitution. I also love serving in church. Currently I teach Sunday school to our teenagers. They are such awesome youth, and we have a lot of fun together. I also have a wonderful opportunity to visit other women in our church each month, and come to know them better. It's wonderful to be able to be that friend when someone is in need, or to share the joys of happy events. I love the sisters assigned to visit me each month, and the comfort of knowing they are there for me in times of joy or need. It's a circle of giving and sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Sometimes it's a real challenge to live and stand for the values and principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Sometimes we are confronted with environments in this world that do not invite the spirit of the Lord. I have found that my daily personal scripture study and prayer helps me to handle those situations. There is also so much in this world that is good and right and beautiful, and I seek those things to enjoy and strengthen my faith. By trying each day to keep my focus on our Savior Jesus Christ, all things are made easier. It does not mean that the challenges and trials we face in this life will go away, but all things truly are possible through Jesus Christ. As I look to my Savior in faith, I have joy in the journey of my life, regardless of my circumstances. Trying my best to love others as Jesus Christ loves me is truly the secret of a happy and fulfilling life, no matter my circumstances or experiences. I know that is true for everyone and anyone who seeks to know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
