Hi I'm Eliza

I'm free-spirited, a lover of all things beautiful, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised on the "Big Island" of Hawaii. This provided a very simple way of life, and that has been a good foundation in my life. I find joy in simple things-- art, good food, uplifting music, garage sales, trees, photographs, the ocean, meaningful conversation, giving service, corny jokes, a tight hug, etc. I like to do things that make me grow, which has provided me with a plethora of awkward, uncomfortable, terrifying, and down-right funny experiences. And I feel strongly that that is what life is about-- growth. I set goals to improve my physical, mental, emotional, and intellectual capacity... then with the help of the Lord I strive to accomplish those goals. I feel at peace because I know that God has a perfect and unique plan for my life designed to allow me to experience joy and reach my potential as His daughter.

Why I am a Mormon

I am who I am because of the testimony I have of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a "Mormon" because I am my best self when I live the teachings of the Savior as found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But most importantly, I am a member of this Church because I know that The Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was an instrument in restoring the Gospel to the earth, that there is a living prophet on the earth, and that there is more to life than just the here and now BECAUSE I have asked my Heavenly Father-- with a sincere heart, really wanting to know-- whether or not the doctrines I grew up learning were true. Particularly I prayed about the truthfulness of The Book of Mormon, and I received a profound spiritual confirmation that it is indeed true. As I continue to live my life based on this witness, I am so happy. I feel at peace. My life is filled with purpose. I am not exempt from hardships and heartache, but because of what I know I get through those times... often stronger than I had been.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to love those around me, by with-holding judgement, by striving to be charitable. Also, I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in the Idaho, Pocatello area. This entails devoting a year and a half of my time to meeting people and teaching those who are interested about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship Joseph Smith. We only worship God, who is our Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. We simply recognize and respect Joseph Smith as a servant of the Lord, a prophet, who was an instrument in restoring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. Show more Show less
