Hi I'm Lyle

I grew up in Southern Califonia moved to Utah worked for the University of Utah and then BYU Hawaii as a CPA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been involved in scouting since I was 8 year old. I am an Eagle Scout and have been a Scout Master, Committee Chair and many other scouting duties. I love scouting and working with young men in the outdoors. In High School I was on the swim and water polo teams. I enjoy water sports. I am Married and have 6 children all are married. My wife and I have 14 grandchildren with another on the way in March. I served an LDS mission in the Alabama- Florida Mission. I Graduated from Brigham Young Unversity in accounting then went to work for a CPA firm in California and became a Certified Public Accountant. We then moved to Utah where I worked for the University of Utah in their General Accounting department for 26 years. We then moved to Hawaii and worked for BYU-Hawaii in their accounting office as an accounting Manager before retiring. After retiring my wife and I have been traveling. We have now turned in Mission Papers and have been called to serve in the Adriatic South Mission as assistant area auditors and as MLS Missionaries. I love the outdoors, Skiing, Hiking, Swimming, Running etc. I have run 5 marathons. As a Scout I attended The 1969 National Jamboree in Idaho and the 1971 World Jamboree in Japan. I love to travel. We have traveled to many places in the U.S. as well a Germany, Netherlands, and Italy. I volunteered at the 2002 Winter Olympics as a motor pool driver. It was a fantastic experience.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that God lives and loves his children. Throughout history God has reveled himself to his prophets. They have recorded the words God has spoken to them and that is how we have the scriptures today. I know that the Bible is the word of God. God has called prophets in our day. God the Father and his son Jesus Christ appeared to the prophet Joseph Smith. Through the prophet Joseph Smith the Lord reveled that there was another record of God's dealings with his prophets that lived on the American Continent. This record was translated and is known today as the Book of Mormon. I have read that book several times along with the Bible and I know they are the word of God. God does hear and answer our prayers. I have had many experiences that have shown me that God loves me and knows and cares about all of his children. I am a seeker after truth and I have found the truth in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I invite all seekers of truth to investigate this church. I Know that God Lives and that He and his son Jesus Christ did appear to the Prophet Joseph Smith. The Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth in its fullness with Priesthood authority to act in Gods name. The Church is True.

How I live my faith

As a result of my faith in God I have been willing to serve in many Church and civic duties. I have been a Scout Master, and have served on various scout committees, I have been involved politically serving as a voting precinct Chair and a State and County Delegate in Utah. I have served as a counselor in four Bishoprics. A member of Three Stake Presidencies once as the Finance Clerk for two of the Presidencies and then as the Stake Executive Secretary for the other Presidency. I have also served as a teacher, and volunteer in the Temple and many other church and civil service areas. I am willing to do whatever the Lord asks me to do

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Lyle
There a certain ordinances that are essential to enter Gods presence such as baptism and eternal marrage. There have been many who have lived on the earth that have not had the opportunity to receive these ordinances and the temple is the place where worthy member of the chruch can go and perform these ordinances for those who have died without haveing the opportunity to receive these ordinances while they lived on the Earth.
