Hi I'm Marvelyn

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Marvelyn. I recently graduated from Brigham Young University of Hawaii with my Teaching License in Elementary Education. I spent half a year substituting for multiple schools and now have my own classroom full of wonderful 6th graders 6 months after graduation from college. I am the eldest out of 4 children. My amazing parents are fromThailand and Philippines. I currently have a sister serving a mission in Bolivia and miss her dearly. I am also dating a wonderful man that I hope to one day marry for eternity. I enjoy organization (which makes me a teacher) and I love doing photo shoots. I enjoy doing photography because it captures beauty and memories. I also love to dance anything, particularly Hula and Tahitian. I find happiness in music, singing (although I'm not the best) and listening to others sing. I'm a kid at heart and eating makes me thoroughly happy! I live in Hawaii so I love to explore and go on adventures! Food, family, and wonderful people bring me joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I grew up as a Mormon. For as long as I can remember, I just knew it was right because my parents said it was right. Having matured (slightly haha) and taking on greater responsibilities and trials, I have grown an understanding of the wonderful blessings His true church brings to me. I would have suffered countless trials to a farther extent and possibly have given up if I had not known the teaching and principals of His church. It was not until I attended college at a University where the teaching of His church are implemented, when I knew that His church is the only true church. It shapes and molds wonderful people who have constant optimism and endurance to climb any obstacle. I have been blessed with great examples in my life and they deliver encouragement along this journey of life. I have a bigger perspective of my purpose here on earth and although I am not perfect, I know where I came from, where I am going, and what I need to do to be with my family for all time and eternity. This gospel is the only thing that gives me pure joy everyday and the people who surround themselves with members of His church will feel His love through our love for Jesus Christ. I know this is the only true church. I know it is the church of Jesus Christ. Through His wonderful plan, we receive happiness for a lifetime; no matter what trials come our way.

How I live my faith

In my small but growing branch of about 50-70 members of young, single adults, I serve the sisters as their president. It is my responsibility to keep in touch with each sister and properly delegate to other sisters in order to provide relief and service to one another. It requires a lot of following up, organizing, and delegating. However, it has blessed my life and others' lives as we serve each other and celebrate happiness with each other. I also visit certain girls regularly and they have become my greatest friends. All of the girls in our branch have been bound by a special sisterhood. We love each other and serve one another regularly.
