Hi I'm Kelsey

I am preparing to serve my God in the Arizona Tucson Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Marriage and Family Studies Major. I am not sure what I am going to do once I graduate but right now I am considering working for an adoption agency. I believe the family is not only central to society, but to God's eternal plan for us. I believe that Christ is at the center of the family unit and that through temple ordinances and the power of the atonement, families can be sealed together for time and all eternity. I love the outdoors. I used to boogie board growing up. I love the feeling of just you and the vast, open ocean and the rush you get when you catch the perfect wave. I am considering going on a mission. I have fasted and prayed and the Lord has told me to prepare, but not to worry so much about if I am actually going to go (I have a tendency to worry too much about things). He let me know that I would receive a sure answer, but right now is just a time to prepare. The missions itself, while a good thing, is not the goal. The goal is to be worthy to enter into the temple, be sealed for time and all eternity, and progress together as an eternal family, whether it be in this life or the next. Going on a mission may help me reach that goal, I just need to listen to the spirit and follow God's plan for me. I know that following God's will rather than my own is what will make me truly happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know that Jesus Christ is my savior and redeemer. I know that he atoned for my sins and that it is only through him, that I might return to my Father in Heaven. I know that Christ provides the way for me to return when I stray from the path. But believing in Christ is just the beginning. I have to believe in what Christ teaches and I have to strive to live my life as he did in all that I do and say. I am a member of this church because I believe that our Heavenly Father spoke to his children through his prophets in biblical times and that he continues to do so. I know that, by divine revelation, Joseph Smith was given the keys to do the Lords work and Christ's church to the earth. I believe that the priesthood has been restored in these latter days and that through the power of the priesthood families can be sealed together for time and all eternity and return as a family to our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Service has been my goal these last few months and I have experienced the joy it has brought to my own life. I recently volunteered to help with a children's carnival. However I had procrastinated my homework and as it came closer and closer to the time we had to leave I realized that I wasn’t going to be able to complete all my homework on time if I was going to help with this carnival. I was extremely stressed out and in a terrible mood. I was about to call and tell them I couldn’t make it that I just had too much to do, when the spirit brought a quote from President Monson to my mind. ”Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved.” I modified this quote for myself to say, "never let a grade, which is just a letter on a page, become more important than a person to be loved." I decided just to get what homework I could done and just go and help. The feeling of joy and fulfillment that I had afterwards was worth whatever homework I had to sacrifice. I wish I could say I miraculously was able to do well on all my quizzes and assignments but, I didn't do very well at all. Yet, I realized the time I spent making someone else happy was much more important that obsessing over my own success.
