Hi I'm Demi

I'm a Mormon. I am a Native American. I am a wife. I am a mother. I am an artist. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am a student.

About Me

I am a senior in college. I am married to my high school sweet heart and together we have a miracle of a daughter. I am an artist. I love pottery, sculpture and painting. I am a member of the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians from Southern California. I am the youngest child of 12 yet I am an only child between my mother and father. I danced ballet and tap for 15 years until I injured my knee doing the triple jump in track my senior year of high school. I still love to dance!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I can feel it within every bone of my body that this is the right thing to do. I am a convert. I converted my senior year of high school, going against my families thoughts and beliefs. I did what I felt the Lord wanted me to do. I prayed deeply one night and asked what I should do. I had spent the last 7 months taking the lessons to prepare for baptism to see if I really wanted to join. I then had a dream that night where my father, who passed away when I was 12, came to me and told me he was waiting for me to do his work here on Earth so he could become a member in Heaven. The dream felt so real. I saw my father who had been gone from this Earth for 6 years at that time. After that I knew it was the absolute right thing to do. Ever since I have never looked back. I am continually reminded of how this is the true church on this Earth. I have never been happier or felt closer to our Heavenly Father. I have never felt the spirit as strongly as I do now that I am a member. It is the most amazing feeling to have the spirit with you.

How I live my faith

I have recently be called to be the nursery assistant teacher with my husband. We are in the nursery during sunday school with our daughter and other young children in our ward. It is really a blessing to be with these young children. Besides being the sunday school teacher, I live my faith daily by the way I live my life. I read the scriptures and pray daily. I talk to our Heavenly Father as is he were sitting right next to me. I keep the word of wisdom; I do not smoke, drink alcohol or partake of things that would negatively affect my body. Why would I want to damage something God has so lovingly given me?? I keep healthy and cherish my body. We only get one, take care of it while you can.

Are Mormons Christians?

Demi
Before becoming a member I use to wonder this very question myself. I was dating my husband at the time. We were in high school and Christmas was coming up. I was afraid to ask him if he even celebrated Christmas! I wasn't sure if he was Christian or believed in Santa. We finally sat down and talked about what it means to be Mormon and I learned so much from him! YES! We are Christians!! Christ, Jesus, is everything!!! He gave us the Atonement and is our Savior.
