Hi I'm Shaylee

I grew up in a small town. I love to read, write, run, and laugh. I'm now a college student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in the China Hong Kong mission. I am learning Cantonese and I know that it's only through the Lord that I'm able to learn this crazy language so I can teach the people of China! I embrace life and whatever comes my way with a smile on my face and a positive attitude. I absolutely love to run, and since high school, where I ran varsity cross country, I have done 2 half marathons, 3 major Ragnar relay races, and a countless number of 5Ks and 10Ks. I am an avid reader, and enjoy diving into new books with enthusiasm. I also love to write, and have been doing so since I was small. I have wonderful friends who love me and are supportive and loyal. We like to have fun! I have an amazing family who has taught me so many things about how happy and wonderful life can be through living the principles taught in this church. I try to do a little better every day, and I'm working toward becoming what I know my Father in Heaven wants me to become. I'm so thankful for the chance to be on a mission for my Heavenly Father!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Simply put, because the gospel life is a wonderful life! It has brought me so much happiness. I am so thankful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and to have the knowledge of the truth. My life has been blessed immensely because of the things that I learn and strive to live each day. I am so excited for the opportunity to share this wonderful gospel message with the people in Hong Kong. I am a volunteer missionary and absolutely LOVE it! I would say that for some, a religion is a once-a-week deal, go to church, come home, and essentially forget about it until the next week. For me, my religion is my lifestyle. Each day, I kneel in prayer to my Father in Heaven. I know that He hears and answers my prayers. I know that He cares about the little things that I care about because I know that He loves me. I am His daughter. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He died on Calvary for me. His Atonement - this special, priceless gift - means everything to me. I know that through Jesus Christ, we are able to repent of our sins and return to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again one day. I know that families can be together forever. What an amazing blessing, to be with those you love forever! In short, I am a Mormon because I know everything about this church is true. The gospel has brought me so much happiness, and I hope to declare to Hong Kong how happy I know they can all be too.

How I live my faith

Right now especially, I live my faith by serving a mission in Hong Kong. I am a volunteer, giving up 18 months of my life right in between college, because I know this gospel message is important for the world to hear. I know my Heavenly Father is happy with my choice to serve a mission. I serve because I love Him, and I love the people of Hong Kong, and I want them to be happy. I kneel in prayer each morning and night and express to Heavenly Father the desires of my heart. I know he answers my prayers, that He has a plan for me, and He loves me so much. I know He loves all of His children. I hope that I live my life in a way that those who know me, will want to know Christ because they know me.
