Hi I'm Loren

I am a college student, a husband, and a father. I am studying to become a history teacher, preferably in a high school.

About Me

I enjoy playing tennis. In fact I got the lady that became my wife to spend time with me by offering to teach her how to play tennis. She agreed to learn even though I looked like her friends ex stalker. I also enjoy chess and am willing to try new things. The most recent thing is a game called Go a game that appears to be slower than all other games I play. That will probably change after I gain a greater understanding of the game. At the moment I am going to school to become a teacher. In fact I teach some classes at the middle school. My wife and I enjoy reading, when we got married we filled up our entertainment center and three large bookshelves with books, duplicate books were sent to people we knew would enjoy them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I studied it and prayed about it. All of my siblings have chosen to not attend this church anymore, in fact I was originally planning on leaving the church. I could not leave though, not until I figured out if it was true or not. So I studied from the scriptures, mainly the Book of Mormon but I also studied from the Old and New Testaments and I prayed about it. For me there was no great aha moment, no angels or burning bushes, but as I studied and time went on I found more and more of what this church taught to be true. I believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, that he suffered for us and died on the cross, but most importantly that He rose from the dead. His resurrection gives me hope that one day I will live again and that so will my family and friends. Without Jesus Christ none of our faith would mean anything for it is only through His authority that we are saved. I know that God's authority was restored to the earth again through heavenly messengers and that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet.

How I live my faith

I visit a couple families and deliver them a spiritual message at least once a month. I also make sure these families have what they need both physically and spiritually. As a priesthood holder in this church I help with the sacrament (which others refer to as the communion) and give blessings to the sick and afflicted. I also am spending some of my time observing students being taught at a middle school, where I offer my opinion to the teachers and give them ideas when asked. I am a father and hope to be able to lead the type of life, both in the church and the community, so I may be an example to my son.
