Hi I'm Joseph Quillen

I like movies, basketball, electronics, and serving the Lord. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm a student at Utah State University. I served a two year full time mission in California. I'm working toward a career as a screenwriter/director. I appreciate film for its ability to show someone a message or an idea and make a difference in their life, whether it be a smile on bad day, a new perspective, or a lesson learned.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon cuz it makes sense. The restored gospel clarifies our understanding of life and answers questions that aren't found elsewhere. I'm a mormon because I love the teachings and the life that comes from it. I love the people, the events, the institution, and above all Jesus Christ being at the head of it. My parents were baptized in their 20s. I was born in to these teachings, but had to experience them and read the scriptures to come to a fuller knowledge and love of the gospel. I always planned on serving a mission to bring this to others. I left on January 5th, 2011 to serve in the California Riverside Mission. I love it.

How I live my faith

I've always tried to stay close to God, but I've been far from perfect. I loved and attended seminary and church every week and did my best to keep the commandments. I wasn't so good at studying my scriptures. I had my struggles and at times people would say to me, "You're a mormon?" It now tears me up inside to think of that. Now I recognize how much it would have helped me through my teenage years if I had just done that simple thing and read a couple pages of scripture a day. Now I've been on my mission for some time and I can see how much living the gospel changes and blesses lives. I also see the contrast in not living the gospel and the issues that come from that. I'm thankful for the freedom from guilt and sadness that Christ offers me. He was perfect, so that I can have the pains and sadness of sin washed away.
