Hi I'm Spencer

I grew up in Lakewood, WA. I'm going to College. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My name is Spencer, I grew up in Washington State (not D.C.). I love to swim and play water polo, as well as draw pictures, play video games, read manga (japanese comics), and cook. I just finished a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ in Kentucky. Now I am getting a college education at Brigham Young University-Hawaii (BYUH) in Laie Hawaii. Im planning on getting my Major in Computer Sciences.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, my parents taught me the gospel throughout my whole life. Through their example I learned many things from them and I am extremely grateful for growing up in the loving enviorment they made. I grew up in the church but that didn't mean I understood everything that was taught. I just went through the motions and lived off my parents testamony of the church. As I got older I begain to notice the differences in the people who were apart of the church and who were not. I began to see the blessings that came from living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I knew then that this church is true, the blessing that came into our lives were not blessing of being rich or of temporal things. They are blessings of a happy family and the hope of being with them forever after this life. I am now living the gospel while serving a mission for the church, and everytime I study the gospel I learn new things and I continue to grow in understanding of the gospel. I have my own testamony of the truthfulness of the church now, and I continue to expand that testamony. The blessings that come into my life give me the greatest assurance that god has called another prophet and has restored his church to the fullness in these times.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day by day. I go out and try to do the best that I can doing activities that I know my Heavenly Father would approve of. I know I make mistakes and I know that without christ's atonement all would be lost. for that I am grateful. So I choose to follow his commandments, to Listen and Obey the voice of His Chosen Prophet Thomas S. Monson. I do these things because I love God and Jesus Christ not because Im forced to and I do not feel these things are a burden or outdated. and at the end of each day I pray for guidance on what he wants me to do the next day.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is Ancient Writings of Prophets. These Prophets Testify of Jesus Christ, That he really lived and is Gods son. Around 600 B.C. God Commanded Lehi (a Prophet) to Take his family out of Jerusalem and take them to the "Promised Land" Which we know today is the American Continent. God Called many other Prophets after Lehi. one of the last ancient prophets was Mormon who compiled the writings of the prophets and put them together to form a record which we now call the Book of Mormon. The Pinicle Event in the Book of Mormon is Christ Personal Ministry after his Resurrection to the People here in the Americas. It tells of his Teachings and Gods Plan for us. It is Another Testament of Jesus Christ to Work With the Bible. It Supports the Teachings in the Bible and Verifies what Christ and the Prophets Taught about the Gospel. The Book of Mormon concludes with a great promise that those who read it and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true (Moroni 10:4). I want those who read what I have wrote to read the Book of Mormon and Follow the Promise given by Moroni. when you do these things I know by the Holy Ghost will Confirm these things are true. and when these things are true you will also know that Christ lived and died for us, Joseph Smith was and still is a Prophet called by God to restore his Chruch and that the Church of Jesus Christ Is the Restored Gospel here on the Earth again. Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

We are official called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The reason why most people know us as 'mormons' and call us 'mormons' is because of the Book of Mormon, which we believe to be the word of God.
