Hi I'm Sariah Baker

I am a social butterfly. Loves writing, acting, and playing flute and piano. I'm adopted and I'm Mormon!

About Me

I am 22 years old! I majored in Psychology and minored Inter-Personal Relations, French, and Sociology. I love to write, be outside in nature, run, and play flute and piano. I was born in China and lived in an orphanage till I was three. That's when I was adopted into my family currently. I have four older brothers and one younger sister. I lived in France for my High school years, so I do speak French. I do very well faking British accents. Fall is my favorite season! Yellow is my favorite color and wolves are my favorite animal. I love learning new things! I just love life!

Why I am a Mormon

The reason that I'm Mormon, or what I'd like to say is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is because I was adopted to family that was of that faith. However, as I've grown up the answer is totally different. I've realized that being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is who I am. I've had so many experiences that have testified to me that this is just more than just a church I went to with my parents, but it was a place where I grew a closer relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I don't know what I would do without this church or the gospel in that matter. We have a book called, The Book of Mormon, and we are challenged to read it all the way through. At the end of the book it asks us to pray to know that these things are true and I do and every time I've done it, it reconfirms the truth to me that this book is true. For a book so old, I've been able to relate it to my life countless times. Through my trials, I've seen myself turn to this amazing book and also to my Father in Heaven. Even at my worse, when I thought I was alone, having this church in my life saved me. I owe everything to be where I am and who I am to God and his Son Jesus-Christ. He watches and loves me! I am a Daughter of God and he loves me and I love him too! I'm thankful to be a member of HIS church! It has truly blessed me in countless ways!

How I live my faith

Pray, scripture study, and going to church are just the few things I do to live my faith. In our church there are standards to live by, such as modesty, health, and dating. I do not consume tobacco, tea, coffee, and drugs. This keeps my body clean and strong. We believe our body is a temple, a gift from God and we need to respect them. Tattoos, low cut shirts, short short shorts, are considered immodest. In a world that focuses so much on the outside world, these standards keep me away from having bad thoughts or harming my body. We are in the image of our God and we need to show gratitude to him, by respecting this great gift. Foul language hurts the soul and those around you. Swearing is not cool it's offense and hurtful. Times are changing and there is more temptation in this world, but because Heavenly Father loves us he gives us principles to follow to keep on the direct path that will lead to him.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Sariah Baker
For me, the Atonement had to be one of the hardest concepts for me to understand, but from personal experience, I was able to truly know it was and appreciate it within my life. The Atonement, is probably for me at least, the greatest gift God could give to us. Jesus Christ sacrificed himself for us so that we would be able to return to him and Heavenly Father. No unclean thing can be in the presence of God and without the Atonement we would not be able to be in the presence of God. This was the only way to do it. It is a very important part of the Plan of Salvation. None of us could have done it, but because God loves us so much; he was able to send his Son unto this Earth and do that for us. Not only did Jesus Christ pay for our sins, he took our pains and afflictions too. By the Atonement, we are able to repent and have an opportunity to return home to heaven with our families, Jesus Christ, and our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
