Hi I'm Lisa

I was born and raised in Arizona and have been a Mormon all my life.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother of six children. I enjoy reading self-help books and playing the piano. I have been a stay-at-home mother with all my children even though I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education when I was 21. Since my children are now grown and quite independent, I recently returned to school to earn a Master's Degree. I want to be a Marriage Educator and teach couples about the sanctity of marriage. I want to teach couples how to turn a hopeless marriage into a joyful one. It can be done!

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a Mormon, but my true conversion did not come until me and my husband had some challenges thrown at us later in our marriage. I remember sitting in church, listening to a sister give her strong testimony of the gospel that had been forged through her trials. I thought to myself, "I wish my testimony could be strong like hers, but I really have had a fairly easy life with no major challenges." Well, it was soon after that when the challenges started to hit. We had a choice whether to sink or swim. Since that time 16 years ago, I have learned to turn to God for strength. My testimony has continually grown every time I put a principle of the gospel to the test. I have received a witness of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon many times. I remember the exact moment when I received a strong personal witness that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet of God. I have an undeniable testimony of the temple based on many precious experiences that I've had in those buildings. There are many things I do not understand or don't have answers for. One of my favorite songs says, "When I doubt, when there are things in life I just can't figure out, I trust that God is in control, and I'll hold on to the things I know." That has been my theme song. If I let doubts fester and grow, then I do not feel good. But as I take hold of faith, and hold on to the undeniable things I know to be true, then I am at peace.

How I live my faith

I have always been active in my faith and have held at least one calling at all times. Since I play the piano and organ, I have been able to offer that service for many years. I have also been a teacher in different capacities, such as with the young children, the young women, the older women, and currently I am the teacher for the marriage class. My favorite calling has always been the one I currently have. When I was the music leader for the young children, I thought that was the best calling ever! As an activities chairman, I helped plan activities for our ward and was able to use my creativity and other talents. It was a favorite calling! But now that I am the marriage teacher, I find it very rewarding, and it is currently my favorite calling. I am continually learning myself how to improve a marriage from our church leaders, and I get to teach it to others.
