Hi I'm Michael

I'm a brother, a son, a student of life, and a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy reading good books and watching good films. On the one hand, I'm a fan of some deep titles that make you think (Christopher Nolan films, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Heart of Darkness, Frankenstein, etc.), while on the other hand I'm a sucker for Disney films. I love hanging out with family and friends. One of my favorite things is playing backyard football, and I always love watching a good college basketball or football game. I like playing popular songs on the guitar by ear. I'm a native Oregonian, born and raised. I'm a college student studying Electrical Engineering. I lived in Japan for 2 years and speak (rusty!) Japanese. One of my hobbies is making web pages. My friends think I'm weird because I like to study from informational videos online about topics that interest me just for fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up being a Mormon. There were not that many Mormons where I lived. I decided to investigate this church for myself by reading the Book of Mormon and living what I was taught to see if it was real or not. I didn't want to live a lie. I noticed that there was peace of mind and safety in living the teachings of Christ. I found that I felt good and clean again by praying for forgiveness from Christ for mistakes that I made. I also found that Christ empowers me to change and become the person I'm supposed to be, and helps me in my weakness.

How I live my faith

I actively participate in my local church congregation and look forward to attending church services each week. Each week and each day I try to repent of any wrong things I have done, and through Christ, I feel like I have the power to change for the better. I chose to go on a 2 year volunteer mission. I was sent to Japan and spent my time there teaching people about Jesus Christ and how to repent and live the Gospel of Christ. For me, it was a very meaningful experience. I came to love the people of Japan and reflect often on the kindness they showed me.
