Hi I'm Laurel.

I'm an athlete, designer, teacher, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I'm a college student studying Technology Engineering Education. Yes, it's a real major. And I absolutely love it - I spend my class time welding, building furniture, producing movies and designing posters. There is no sport I love more than volleyball. I love my Kawasaki Ninja, so I'm happiest on sunny days. I speak Spanish, French, Russian and a bit of Italian. I love doing a little bit of everything!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church. When I was little my favorite part was how much music and love I felt at church. As I got older I loved talking to my friends about their religions, and in high school I decided to try a few out. I never wanted to feel like I was just a member of my church because it was what I'd grown up with. But I found this really was where I wanted to be. I love the people I have met through church. I love the opportunities I've been able to have, especially in volunteering and service. Through church responsibilities I've had I have learned so much about being a leader. My religion helps me find and stick to standards of how I want to live my life. What it comes down to is that I have learned that God lives. He is my Heavenly Father and He knows me, loves me, and cares about me. I am a daughter of God, and I want to live up to what I am.

How I live my faith

Right now my responsibility at church, or my 'calling', is to play the piano! I honestly laughed when they first asked if I would accept the calling, because my piano playing was terrible! But my mom is a music major so I love music and have always wished I were better at sight-reading. This was my chance! Now that I play every week my skills are improving so fast! I play the piano as we sing before our meeting and I love how quickly music fills the room with unity and love. I am so glad that my skills are improving as I bring music into our meetings each week.
