Hi I'm Mariah

Daughter, Sister, Aunt. Lover of language, music, and teaching English. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

A current graduate in Linguistics, focus on teaching English, I love to read and learn new things. I am the third of six kids (five girls and a boy) in a wonderful and loving family. I love listening to music and playing music, especially the cello and piano.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born and raised in this church, I still remember a time in my life when I truly became converted to living it. Growing up in the church, I had amazing parents who taught me and guided me in line with the teachings of God. They were great examples of how the Lord asks us to live and treat others. In my childhood I was able to rely on their examples and follow their guidance; however, there comes a time in our lives when we need to find out for ourselves. This time in my life came when I was entering junior high (middle school). Having been hurt by a friend and trying to figure out who I was and how I wanted to live, I turned to the Lord. Through turning to the Lord, I came to know how much He loves each and every one of us. He comforted me when I thought no one understood what I was going through. He was there for me, and ever since then I have always wanted to be worthy of His love and guidance.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a missionary for the Church, and am so excited for this amazing opportunity at this time in my life. Serving a mission at twenty-four seemed a little frightening at first, especially with the current change in ages (Elders can serves at eighteen and Sisters at nineteen). Being five or six years older could possibly hinder my relationships with my companions and fellow missionaries. However, I feel like my past life experiences and accomplishments have prepared me to serve at this time of my life in a way that helps those around me. I know that I am supposed to be serving a mission right now and that it is what the Lord has planned for me. He has prepared me to serve at this time and I am excited to learn all that He has planned for me to learn and help all those He has prepared for me to help. With His help, I know that I can do anything and become the person that I was foreordained to become. He has a plan for each and everyone of us. He knows our current and future struggles, but He also knows our joys. He understands and will provide the aide that we need. All we need to do is ask.
