Hi I'm Maria Gonzalez

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in spanish country "Guatemala" were I was introduce to the church for a friend.

About Me

I work with children who have Autism, a work that I enjoy. I'm a mother of 3 children. Two of them are married, and I have five grandchildren. I love music of all kinds, especially Spanish and classical music.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to Mormonism when I was 22 years old by a friend who I really admired. She was very pure, and had very good values. I asked her what her religion was. She told me "I'm a Mormon" then she invited me to come to the church the following Sunday. I accepted the invitation, and when I was there I felt the Spirit very strongly especially when we were singing. The beautiful music touched my heart. So I thought I would like to feel like this always, but this was not easy because my parents were Catholic, and they did not believe and wouldn't change their religion. So they gave me a very hard time. I was ready to be baptized but they told me that if I decided to do it I could not come back home. I decided to fast, and prayed with my mormon friend, finally one day my parents told me "It is all right, you can be baptized". That day was the happiest day of my life, and I was so thankful to my Heavenly Father for answering my prayers, and letting me be part of His church. Three months after I was baptized I met my husband and a year later we were sealed in the temple of the Lord. We lived in Guatemala, so we were sealed in the Mesa, Arizona Temple as that was the closest temple to us. The Lord blessed me with three boys, and ten years later we moved to the USA, where we live now. My three boys served missions. Two of them were married in the temple and have given me five grandchildren who my husband and I enjoy. Now Forty years after my baptism I am so thankful to my Heavenly Father for the blessing of belonging to this wonderful gospel that has changed my life for good, and for my grandchildren, who are growing in the gospel.

How I live my faith

I'm so thankful for the teachings of the gospel, especially for the scriptures. The scriptures are a collection that contains God's revelation to man. As I read, and pondered, and prayed the Holy Ghost bore witness to me of the true of these things. Through the gift of faith, i know that our Father in Heaven love us, and knows us better than ourselves. Also I"m so thankful for our Savior, whose Atonement was necessary for our salvation. I live my faith by teaching the children in the church. I also enjoy serving in the woman's organization of the church, because at our church women share our talents and abilities with each other. I also had the opportunity to serve the youth. It is so fun because they had very good activities like youth conferences were they receive instruction on how to be prepare in life. I also served as a visiting teacher. As a visiting teacher we take care of our women and families in need.
