Hi I'm Anna

I love my family and the world around me. I'm a Mormon missionary.

About Me

I'm a college student, but have put my education on hold for 18 months to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Washington DC. I love to write, cook, doodle, and do anything related to art. I have a wonderful family that I love very much, and we are all very close. My youngest sister had Down Syndrome and has brought our family very close together through the sweet and sacred spirit she has brought into our home. I love camping with my family and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. I play the piano, sing, paint, and read, and love doing these things in my almost non-existent spare time.

Why I am a Mormon

I know God exists. I feel his presence in my life. I do not believe this world could have come to be as it is without a Superior Being, and I know that He loves us all immensely. I know God has a plan for us. The plan is called “The Plan of Happiness” because that's what it does – it brings happiness into our lives. I know God provided a way for us to return to him, and it is through Jesus Christ and this gospel. The infinite atonement allows Jesus Christ, our elder brother, to understand all we go through. He suffered for our sins, but he also suffered for disappointments with others and ourselves, for weaknesses we possess, for sadness and loss we've experienced. God would not exist and provide no pathway home. I know that Joseph Smith was inspired to go to the woods that day in 1820 and ask in faith which church was true. I know that God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph that day in the woods. I know that The Book of Mormon, as translated by Joseph Smith by the power of God, is a true record of the ancient people in the Americas. There is much we can learn from the Book of Mormon. I know that I am not perfect. I mess up again and again and again, each and every day. Sometimes, I fear the adversary begins to win me over in his subtle ways. But it is this incredible gospel – the Gospel of Jesus Christ in these Latter Days – that has brought me the joy, contentment, and peace that experience today. No other thing in this world has brought me such happiness as this gospel. My family, because we are built on the foundation of Christ and a temple sealing, is forever. I will continue to be tempted, and to experience hardships and trials. However, I know that God is infinitely more powerful that Satan. If I hold onto the word of God and never let it go, striving to make necessary covenants and possess the pure love of Christ for all men, I will again return to live with Him, and can fully partake of the blessings He has prepared for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live as God and Jesus Christ would want me to. I strive every day to say my prayers, to read both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and to show kindness and love to those around me. I serve others when I feel promptings from the Spirit telling me how I can help others. I attend my church meetings on Sunday, and try to magnify my calling. My calling at this time is to serve as a witness of my Lord Jesus Christ, and to invite others to come unto him. I know the Lord will strengthen me in this calling. As I go about my days, I work towards perfecting myself. I try to recognize those things in my life that need improvement, and work hard to fix them and better myself.
