Hi I'm Scott
I am a husband and father of four. I grew up in Stockton, CA and then went to UC Berkeley for my undergraduate studies. After completing college, I served a two-year mission in Argentina. During the mission, I learned to love serving other people. Upon returning home, I attended UC Berkeley's law school, Boalt Hall. I am now a practicing attorney in the Bay Area of Northern California.
Why I am a Mormon
I'm a Mormon because when I was a child, I learned certain simple truths about who I am, including the fact that I am a child of God. When I was in college, I had the opportunity to hear these truths again and they resonated deep within in me. I believe that I have known these truths since before I was even born into this Earth. I have felt a sense of love, comfort and joy that comes in following the truths that I learn. These truths include that Jesus is the Christ -- the Son of the Father and the Savior of the world. There are prophets in our day, including Joseph Smith, who guide us in the paths of the Master. The Book of Mormon is a true book of scripture prepared for us in our day. I know these things because the Holy Ghost has testified of their truth to me countless times.
How I live my faith
I live my faith my doing my best to follow the teachings, guidance and commandments of Jesus Christ. I try to pray to my Heavenly Father, read scriptures and lead my family in church participation. I have had wonderful opportunities to get up at 5AM to teach high school kids about the New Testament; to teach teens about how to live rightly in a tough world; to teach adults about the Old Testament and other scriptures. Every single day of my life I have hope because of Jesus Christ and I try to be a worthy follower of his.
