Hi I'm Rebecca Reyes

I love to play soccer, sing, and dance. I'm a missionary and now can speak Spanish! I'm a hardcore Texan and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Being a missionary has made the biggest impact on my life then anything else I've ever experienced. I've almost been out serving the Lord for a year and I've never been happier. I've come to love my Savior in a way I don't think I ever would have learned to do had I never come. I have had many experiences here that have strengthen my faith with the people that I've taught and the companions that I've had. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, even the bad things, and that if we do our best to work through whatever happens in our life we will be able to endure to the end. Before my mission I loved being with my friends and family. My family is my eternal support, no matter what kind of trials are thrown at us, we know what's important and we hold onto that. My friends have been a huge influence in me coming on a mission and have been excellent pen pals! I love playing soccer and a bunch of other sports but soccer is by far my favorite! I have many of my greatest memories playing soccer. It's amazing how you can apply anything in your life to the gospel - that's something I'm starting to do very well here on my mission. I also love to sing. Almost every companion that I've had has sung better then me which I've been grateful for. Not only has it been wonderful to hear their beautiful voices but it helps me to remember that the Spirit can be felt through music. I've come to love music way more than before.

Why I am a Mormon

I may have been born into this religion but I wasn't born into believing it. Like my parents who are converts I had to read the Book of Mormon, pray, attend church, do all the necessary things the missionaries ask you to do to find out for myself whether it was true or not. I'm a Mormon because I have a testimony of this gospel. I have felt the spirit when being taught about the life of Joseph Smith and all the persecution he went through so we could have the church on the earth again. I'm a Mormon because I know this is the Lord's true church. I have received so many blessings in my life that have proven that God is real, and He did send His son, Jesus Christ, to die and Atone for our sins. I had times in my life where I truly had to exercise faith to know why I went through certain trials and tribulations and in time I knew why. The Lord puts us through the refiners fire because he knows we will come out better then we were before. I'm a Mormon because I want to be with my family forever. The thought of not having them after this life makes me want to help others be able to have the same thing. I'm a Mormon because I know who I am and who I can be. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is how I can come to be like God and have eternal happiness. I'm a Mormon because I know all these things. I love the Lord and I will forever be grateful to Him and his sacrifices he has made for me.

How I live my faith

As of this moment I'm a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been called to serve in the Minnesota Minneapolis Spanish Speaking Missions for 18 months. I have experienced some things that have changed my life forever. I am so grateful to be serving my Savior. I try everyday to let everyone know what I teach is true not only by the things that I say, but by my example, that people may see how the true gospel of our Savior can influence the lives of others. I'm a firm believer that lecturing might work for some, but showing others through love inspired council and showing them the things you now by loving example, it will make such a huge difference. I do my best to let everyone I know and the people I teach see how the beginning of a new life can start with us if we want to be that example to someone else. I go around bearing my testimony of the Savior's true gospel everyday and it's something that has helped strengthen my faith. It's a way of helping people see that even though what I believe may be crazy to some, there has to be good in it, otherwise I wouldn't be wearing my Missionary name tag and church clothes for 18 months for no reason. If there's anything can help someone understand the Savior's love for them it's by bearing our testimonies to them to let them know how we know He loves us. I go telling everyone my testimony because I know that even though many may not listen, someone will, and that's enough to make a difference.
