Hi I'm Penni Pickern-Kershner

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Michigan. I am one happily married woman.

About Me

I grew up in southwestern Michigan and joined the church at the age of 25. From there I have lived in the West until 2011 when I moved back to Michigan once again. I love the mountains, I love to ski, hike, snow shoe, bike and travel. I prefer the mountains to any other place on earth. I am a homemaker and have a wonderful life with my husband who is the greatest joy of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I had been raised in a divorced home and had a very unhappy childhood. I went to church on Easter and Christmas at an old chapel in the country which was called the "bretheren " church. Its a branch of the Baptist church. There was a base of belief in God and Christ. But any dedication to anything but going to church twice a year didn't exist. Through my early adult years leading up until when I found the Mormon church I had prayed. I often pondered on an existing father in heaven that I did strongly feel existed. After a very hard time in my life I sought after a church. I wanted to change my life completely. I wanted to go to church, marry a man of God and raise as family under his plan. I began my search. I contacted several church's which always ended in a closed door. I could not get anyone to return calls, allow me to meet with their clergy. I was earnestly searching... I finally met with the Elders and immediately knew the things they were teaching me were true. I knew in my heart but I also knew that I needed to read the Book of mormon and pray about it to gain my own testimony. If anyone would know if ti was true it would be God himself. And I did just that. I honestly did receive an answer that changed my life. This church is Gods church on the earth. It requires much more than Sunday worship as would the be expected to anyone that had pondered the purpose of the gospel in the first place. I have been faithful because of my testimony and can never walk from it. Its brought me the kind of life I wanted and was searching for. It made me a better person and has put me on an eternal path to happiness.

How I live my faith

I served a mission for the church. I have since been active and I have been in Primary to Releif Society. Each calling is challening but the blessings are very real and at the end when we are released from that calling its often bitter sweet. We are the ones truly blessed from our service, more so than those whom we serve.
