Hi I'm Mary Rasmussen

I grew up in Utah I love to travel and have been on service trips with my university. I run marathons and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I am serving in Chicago Illinois. I went to college for two years before deciding to coming on mission. I love to read and just get lost in books. Sometimes I find when I read I start narrating my normal life the way the author of my book would. I also love to exercise and eat healthy. Honestly my favorite drink is water... scetchy I know. I love my family, with all of our flaws and trials we love each other so much.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family who were all members. My great grandparents were converted by missionaries in Europe and traveled to America soon after converting. I always loved going to church as a child and pleasing my teachers and my mom by doing so. I loved the welcoming atmosphere and the strength I felt by abiding my it's precepts. It wasn't until my junior year that I really grasped the truthfulness of the gospel. I had been through a rough past few a few months and it was the first day of school. It was also my first day of seminary(religious classes I was able to attend at my high school in the morning). Our teacher, Brother Taylor, began to talk about how great the universe was and how there was no end, and about how small we are compared to everything else in existence. After he described that each of us were as one grain of sand on a beach, he began to tell us of the amazing love our Heavenly Father has for us; how we are worth more than the whole universe and all it's planets and stars to Him. We are His children and He loves us. And He sent is son, Jesus Christ to atone for our sins so that we could live with Him again after this life just as we did before this life. And that when Christ suffered for our sins it was because of his love for us too. Even if His suffering would have only saved just one of us, He still would have done it. After this, everything taught completely made sense to me. Of course Heavenly Father would restore His gospel on the earth today through a prophet, Joseph Smith. Of course He would want us to be able to know the truth and not be confused on how to return to Him. He loves us all. He doesn't want us to be scared, confused, or alone. And with Him in our lives, and Jesus Christ, we never have to be.

How I live my faith

Right now I am serving a mission for the church in Chicago. I have a firm knoweldge that this gospel is true. I wouldn't have left my life back home for a year and a half to do this is if didn't know it was true. I left school, friends, and family to come here. I left my brother with a developing sickness of Crohns to come here and share the joy of the gospel with others. I know that by taking His gospel to the world and His children, He will bless my family. I have faith that my family, particularly my brother, are in his hands. This is a message that NEEDS to be shared with the world. God lives and loves you, Jesus Christ is your savior and He lives as well. And you will live with them again someday and with your family by accepting His gosepl and His atonement.
