Hi I'm Chris

I'm a wife, mom, and grandmom. I'm a statistician and corporate trainer, I love to watch movies and dance, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in North Carolina and was a stay-at-home mom for 18 years. After that, I went back to graduate school to complete an advanced degree in statistics. I currently work as a statistician and corporate trainer for a business analytics software company. I love to read, visit with my children, watch movies and dance with my husband (who was a nationally ranked dancer not too many years ago...)

Why I am a Mormon

Many years ago two young ladies knocked on my door and desired to share a message with me. I was a junior in college and at the time I was quite ill with pleurisy. The missionaries were told that I was not available for a visit and sent on their way. I wasn’t really interested in talking to them, but when they asked if they could return another time, a date was set--thinking that they probably would not be back. Missionaries tend to come back...Before they arrived, I had decided to meet with them long enough to be polite, offer them some refreshments (this is the south after all), and send them on their way. The missionaries started the meeting with prayer and then began to teach about the prophet Joseph Smith and the restoration of the gospel. Much to my surprise, as they told the account of the first vision of Joseph Smith, I was completely overwhelmed with a warm, tranquil feeling inside. Much to their surprise, I asked them how I could join their church. As they say, "the rest is history". I'm a Mormon because the things I have learned about my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have been a source of happiness during good times and a source of peace and strength during hard times. At all times, understanding that my Savior knows me and is there for me is the foundation for my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be the best person I can. I try to be honest and to care for people around me. I meet new people continually in my job and I try to always remember that those around me are Heavenly Father's sons and daughters. Remembering that helps me to be interested in others and treat them with respect. Most of my service in the Church has been teaching the youth and young adults in the church --their energy is contagious! I currently teach monthly lessons in the Relief Society, which is the Church’s worldwide organization for the women. I especially enjoy those times when other women share experiences from their lives that inspire and uplift me.
