Hi I'm BJ

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello, I am Brian but most people know me as BJ. I grew up in Utah and love anything to do with sports or outdoors. After high school I had the opportunity to go on a two year mission for the church in Northern California where I was assigned to teach the Chinese people there. After my mission I attended the University of Utah where I graduated with a degree in business. I am married to an amazing lady and we have the privilege of being the parents of three young kids. We are currently living near Philadelphia, PA where I am employed by a bank. We are loving the experience of the east coast. There is so much history and so many great things to see and people to meet.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long heritage of people who were members of the church so I have grown up learning about the principles of the gospel. As with all people at some point I had to determine what I believed to be true. When I was around 14 or 15 I decided to read the Book of Mormon. I remember reading through it and waiting for a really profound answer or sign to tell me it was true. About the time I was a little more than halfway through I had not received the answer I was anticipating but I realized that since I started reading the Book of Mormon that my life was different. I was kinder, happier, nicer to my siblings, more appreciative of my parents, and a million other things. I was more Christlike and that was the answer I needed that the Book of Mormon is indeed the word of God and will bring anybody who reads it closer to the Lord. Since that experience I have had countless others that have increased the depth of my testimony. Spiritually the gospel provides me with guidance, nourishment, and grace but on a more practical note I have found that many of the happiest moments in my life are experiences I have had that revolve around my religion. The gospel teaches us how to have joy! I cannot think of a better gift for my children than to show them the manner of happiness, to teach them the purpose of life and to help them have a personal relationship with the Savior.

How I live my faith

In the church we have assignments we are asked to perform and I am currently responsible for the 12-14 year old young men in our congregation. On Sundays I sit in a classroom with them as we discuss and learn about the gospel and in addition we have weekday activities such as service projects, Boy Scouts of America, or just having fun together. Beyond that as a father, my wife and I try very hard to live our faith daily so our children can learn the principles of the gospel and have the same joy and hope that the gospel has given to us.
