Hi I'm Cassie Nielsen

I was born into the church and have chosen to continue being apart of it, for it is the true church, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into the LDS church and have chosen to become and stay a member. I am 19 years old and currently working towards getting my BS in Family and Marriage Studies. I am the youngest sister in my family of three girls. My eldest sister served a mission in the Ohio/Indiana area and met her husband on her mission. They were married in the Gilbert Temple in December 2015. My other sister was recently married this past December and her husband has a four year old son, and together they have a nine month old baby girl. Not all of my family members have chosen to remain active in the church and abide by our beliefs. However, many have including myself. The gospel has brought me many blessings and I am proud to say I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and I couldn't image not being a Mormon. It's who I am, and what defines me. God has a plan for all of us including you and me. Everything I know is because of the scriptures. I know there true because I've prayed to my Heavenly father and asked if the scriptures were true and got a warm feeling inside that lasted threw all the night. If I've ever had any doubts the scriptures have always reassured me. I know with all my heart that Jesus Christ is our Savior, our brother, our perfect example. I LOVE the gospel and try to live it everyday.

How I live my faith

I do my best to read my scriptures everyday, but not just read, study. As well, I do my best to say my prayers everyday 2 or more times. I attend an institute class on a weekly basis on Thursday nights. Currently, the class I am attending is about the life of Jesus Christ and his eternal ministry. On Sundays I attend church, where I can partake of the sacrament and hold a calling that allows me to serve my fellow ward or church members. On a daily basis I have multiple opportunities to live my faith from, choosing to show kindness to all that I may cross paths with, saying no when offered a smoke or alcoholic beverage, serving others, etc. I also attend the temple as often as I am able.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Cassie Nielsen
In the time of Joseph Smith the churches that existed, were all miss leading and each had only part of the truth, but not the whole truth. Because of the bible, Joseph Smith went and prayed to Heavenly Father asking which church is true and which he should join. By doing so, Joseph Smith received an answer and life calling. If you read Joseph Smith History in the back of the book of Mormon you can understand this better. The Book of Mormon takes place in America in the same time period as the bible. There is a lot of knowledge we can get from the bible and we believe in, and many principles taught in the bible are also taught in the Book of Mormon. One reason why the Book of Mormon is important is that it explains more into our Heavenly Fathers plan for us, where we come from and what we might expect after this life. Show more Show less

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Cassie Nielsen
There are no restrictions of who can join the Mormon church. Mormon Missionaries are all over the world to spread the gospel. There are many ways that you can have the missionaries near you, teach you about the church. Also, there are people all around you that you might not even realize are Mormon, and if you ask them a question about the church, I'm sure they'll be happy to answer. Everyone in this world is created equal and Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us. It doesn't matter your race, heritage, sexuality, or if you have committed a crime. Heavenly Father loves us all, and wants each of us to learn His gospel. Show more Show less
