Hi I'm Lori Lyn

I'm quiet and love a good laugh. I'm a statistician, historian and genealogist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a person who loves life and has a lot of varied interests. My favorite thing to do is read. For fun I mostly read cozy mysteries, but I also love to learn about history. I design jewelry and paper cards and hope to someday sell them online or at craft fairs. I'm a photographer and share my photos on cards with friends. I'm also a big college football fan. I work as a statistician in medical research in Boston and am working on a 2nd master's degree in history at night. I am especially interested in colonial New England the daily life of women and children in that era. I am also a professional genealogy speaker and love researching my own family history and learning who my ancestors were and what their lives were like.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I find such happiness through following the gospel of Jesus Christ. My life isn't perfect. I struggle with some chronic conditions that sometimes limit by ability to do all the things I would like to do, but I have found hope and strength through serving others as Jesus would do. Knowing that I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father and that He personally knows and cares about me and helps me in my daily life makes all the difference in how I view myself and the choices I make in this life. Knowing God personally knows me and cares about me is the thing I believe most strongly. I have so often felt His presence and guidance in my life, and He has given me the physical strength I need to get through the day on a regular basis. I was in Israel about 10 years ago and had the opportunity to visit the Garden of Gethsemane and the tomb where Jesus was laid. In both places I felt such peace and such a strong conviction that Jesus is my Savior and loves me. I am grateful for living prophets who guide us today.

How I live my faith

All service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is voluntary and without pay. I currently serve in a leadership position in the women's organization in our church. I also serve as a visiting teacher where on a monthly basis I visit 2 or 3 of the women in my congregation, catch up on what is going on in their lives, and share a spiritual message. I love this opportunity to make new friends with the women in the congregation. I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ and live a good life by serving others, reading the scriptures and communicating in prayer with my Heavenly Father.
